Lt. Stone
Lt. Stone is the mech pilot
from Metal Warriors, a Super NES game.
Abilities:
Hijack Mechs: Lt.
Stone has an amazing capacity to use most any mechs.
Equipment:
Note: Most of these mechs
have some sort of basic abilities. They have some sort of moving
ability, some sort of close-range weapon, some sort of long-range
weapon, a shield, and some other attack (usually). You'll notice
the continuity. One exception is the Drache: due to it's flying,
it has 4 blasters for different directions and one close-range
attack (no shield or movement ability). These correspond to the
A, B, X, Y, and L buttons of the Super NES. The R button is used
for the Add-Ons.
Ballistic: The Ballistic
is a mech that is shaped like a ball, but unfurls to become a
weapons platform.
- Machinegun: The Ballistic
has a mounted automatic weapon, which also serves as the
Plasma Cannon.
- Plasma Cannon: The
Ballistic's energy-style charging weapon. The cannon is
particularly lethal due to it's two forms of fire. The
first charge yields a three-round burst. The second
charge yields a decimating energy ball capable of blowing
mechs up icy slopes. In addition, the Ballistic may
charge, shoot the first three-round burst, and then
continue the same charge to blast.
- Ram: The Ballistic can
charge a plasma shield along the edge of it, then let
loose and slide at amazing speeds to ram into enemies. It
can even shoot straight up to bounce! Highly lethal when
underneath something.
- Block: The Ballistic's
shield attack makes a part of it come out to block
incoming shots, as well as one of the legs sticking out
to the rear to keep it solid.
- Jump: The Ballistic is
capable of jumping.
Drache: A four-legged spinning
flight robot.
- Blasters: Due to the fact that the
Drache is an only-flying vehicle, it must spend 4 of it's
5 abilities in order to be able to blast all directions.
It may blast diagonally by moving appropriately.
- Flight: The Drache's movement is
flight-exclusive and is high-speed.
- Power Dive: The Drache launches
down at enemies. Most of the time, it knocks an enemy to
the side. But, if an enemy is too big or is moving up
towards the Drache, the Drache will always crush the mech
in one blow, a sign of the lethality of this attack. Bear
in mind, however, that with low HP and no shields, the
Power Dive carries it's risks.
Havoc: The Havoc is one of the
two "standard" mechs, the equivalent of Ken and Ryu
(albeit with more different abilities). The Havoc and Nitro are
both good, all-around units. It's weakness lies in the fact that
it has only two methods of attack, but it's movement and
protection make up for the weakness.
- Blade Chain: The Havoc's close
range attack is quite good. It involves swinging a chain
with some sort of axe or meathook-style blade at the
target. It's second strike with this will be a spinning
strike, allowing for a good old, rapid one-two slash.
- Machinegun: The Havoc uses this
fairly ubiquitious weapon as it's long-range.
- Boosters: The Havoc uses it's
boosters in two manners. First, it leaps up and does a
rocket-propelled jump (see Why
Jump? for some
advantages to it's lack of flight). Second, it slides
across the ground at a high speed (the "Zip
Roller").
- Shield: The Havoc's forearms
resemble SWAT shields, and it uses them appropriately.
Nitro: The Nitro is the other
standard mech. It is well balanced as well, but substitues a
energy blaster for a machinegun, an energy sword for a meathook
chain, flight for jumping, and an energy shield for a physical
shield.
- Energy Blade: The Nitro's energy
blade appears to have the benefit of size and range but
the disadvantage of slowness and weakness v. the Havoc
(more research coming). It may do both a thrust and a
slash with it's weapon.
- Fusion Blaster: A red-hot energy
blaster. Nice range.
- Shield: The Nitro's shield is used
in two ways. First, it puts it in front of itself.
Second, it "drops" the shield to harass and
annoy the enemy.
- Flight: The Nitro has full flight
capacities, albeit slower than the Drache.
Prometheus: The heavy mech, the
Zangief of the game. The Prometheus is a mobile weapons platform
capable only of walking. However, it's huge and powerful weapons
make up for it's lack of mobility.
- Cannon: The Prometheus fires heavy
shells that do good damage and explode with fragments,
which do less damage (but still significant).
- Flamethrower: It is a mistake to
engage the Prometheus in melee combat. It's flamethrower
is truly intense and dangerous.
- Bridge Building: The Prometheus may
build some amount of blocks in order to cross a chasm.
- Shield: The Prometheus has a heavy
shield.
- Aerial Mines: The Prometheus
launches small mines upwards to harass flying enemies.
Spider: The Spider is a stealthy
assassin mech.
- Wall Climbing: The Spider is
capable of climbing on the walls (this is not a button
command). In fact, that is it's primary method of moving.
It's movement can be somewhat clumsy at first.
- Cloak: The Spider has a cloaking
system that works as long as the "button" is
held down.
- Blaster: The Spider has an energy
blaster similar to the Drache.
- Headbutt: The Spider rams enemies
with it's scorpion-like head.
- Web Shot: The Web Shot irritates
and slows down the Spider's enemies.
Space Suit: Lt. Stone is not
always in his mech. When he is outside, he is usually in a heavy
space suit. The damage he takes is pretty impressive: 10 bullet
shots, being rammed by something 3 times his size and energized,
etc... He is capable of full flight and has a machinegun (with
very limited range compared to the mechs).
Add-Ons: All of the mechs have
one slot for additional weapons or power-ups. Here are some of
these:
- Rocket Launcher: Fires a powerful
rocket with a fast firing rate.
- Timed Mines: Lethal weapons. They
have a very slow firing rate, but they are capable of
scrapping mechs in two or three direct hits.
- Grenade Launcher: Launches small
"balls" at enemies. Faster firing rate than the
Rockets, but not as impressive.
- Super Speed: When activated, the
mech jumps, moves and (maybe) even fires faster!
- RG Powerup: This allows mechs, even
the mighty Prometheus, to gravity flip to the ceiling!
Excellent for the Spider, and it could probably be used
by the Drache to ram upwards.
Element Granted by Spekkio:
Lightning.
Ultimate Equipment:
Axis Crusher: The Axis Crusher
was a secret mech design to fight the Axis. Lt. Stone defeated
the Axis preemptively, so the mech was never completed. If you
were to ask the Earth Government, you could probably get it
finished. It incorporates new, experimental technologies. It's
basic design is that of the Nitro, as it was felt that that was
the best model type to use. However, it has all of the features
of the other standard mechs.
- It's shield is a combination of the
Prometheus', the Nitro's, and the Havoc's. In addition,
it may use the cloaking field simultaneously (although it
may not move with the shields on).
- When necessary to use the
Ballistic's ram, it rolls up like the Ballistic and goes.
It can even use the Havoc's Zip Roller to get some
initial momentum and then roll into the ram!
- The main gun is a fusion of all the
designs, capable of blasting Prometheus shells, Ballistic
Plasma cannon shots, Machinegun fire, the Drache and
Spider's blast, and all add-ons. It even blasts a
modified (longer-range but weaker) Prometheus
flamethrower and the Web shot.
- Add-ons are teleported on.
- The Axis Crusher can climb up
walls.
- Other mechs may be hijacked and
controlled remotely, all in the safety of the Axis
Crusher!
- In case of the main gun's destruction, the Drache style
cannons may fire from all directions and the Prometheus
flamethrower and Spider Web Shot may also be used.
- The head may extend in order to do the Spider Headbutt.
- The Blade Chain of the Havoc is now energized like the
Nitro's Energy Saber.
- The mech can fly and dive like the Drache.
