Red Silver
Red Silver is a magically
enchanted silver bullet made by Sorcerous Armaments Inc. (often
hiring TekhMage as a consultant). It's cost is tremendous because
they are lethal anti-supernatural weapons. First of all, they are
technically silver, but they "hit with the power of
steel" and thus have 90% of the hitting power. However, most
supernatural warriors refuse to wear armor anyways. Basically,
when the Red Silver pierces, a red glow appears on the targets.
The Red Silver will work on ordinary humans, but they inflict 10%
damage (the steel enchantment only works on supernaturals) and
just splotch red paint. However, the following debilitating
effects will happen when a supernatural creature is hit:
- The "red" tracer
("fire white" in the case of red targets) glows
like a flashlight, revealing the demon's location even in
deep darkness. Furthermore, there is the Red Silver
Tracker that will home in on those nailed by the Red
Silver. It does not identify which being it is, but each
Red Silver has a slightly distinctive aura (with 500,000
different "frequencies"). True professionals
will remember what bullet they used on each being.
- Metamorphed supernatural
beings must transform back into their true shape. And if
their true shape is stronger, they only get 50% of the
power bonus!
- The bullets ignore 50% of
the target's defensive value. This even applies to
vampires and werewolves, who are normally immune to
weapons (even if they weren't already vulnerable to
silver)!
- The bullets prevent 200%
of their damage from being regenerated (i.e. the damage
of the Red Silver itself and an additional equivalent
blow). The bullets cause intense pain, a new sensation to
many supernatural beings.
- If the bullet stays in for
too long, a sort of poison similar to gangrene from
having a metal spike in one's body for too long will
happen. Supernatural beings will normally take the
"stick" of removing the bullet (allowing a
tracker to hunt them down to where they will remove it),
but if they don't, the poison will probably make them
eventually.
- If you are convinced by
the difference between a creature of magic (dragon) vs. a
supernatural (demon), then merely half all of Red
Silver's effects on creatures of magic.
- All penalties last until
the bullet is removed. The bullet has a special magical
adhesive that prevents magical removal, so only another
very strong person will be likely to remove the bullet.
And the tracer effect lasts for several hours after the
bullet is removed (although the track will get weaker)!
Cost: 2000 GP
per bullet (regardless of caliber, within a reasonable limit;
i.e. a 9 foot spike will NOT cost merely 2000 GP). Armor-Piercing
Red Silvers will sell for 2500. Rocket-Propelled Red Silvers sell
for 3000. Add 50% for shotgun shells. The tracker sells for
20,000, has a range of 5 miles, and hooks up to most homing,
Instant Recall, or sensor systems. A clip of 100 will sell for
180,000 (bulk discount); 185,000 if frequencies are specified. A
Red Silver grenade sells for 20,000 and is essentially a
fragmentation grenade. A Red Silver Gas Grenade is 40,000 and
sends miniature Red Silver shards into the air. Multiply the
price by 2.5 if the person wants to be able to have 100% of
steel's capacity on supernaturals and 60% on people.
