Xiticix Antennae: The
antennae are outlined in detail in the Xiticix
Invasion™ book. I will summarize:
Vulnerabilities: All sonic or
vibration based attacks inflict an additional die of damage and
knock out the abilities for 3D4 melee rounds per blast. White
noise negates auditory abilities and halves all other antennae
abilities, as well as causing a painful headache.
Auditory Abilities:
- Track by sound alone at 66% +1% per
level if the character is a warrior (Headhunter, Special
Forces) or hunting (Huntsman-Trapper, Bounty Hunter,
perhaps Wilderness Scout) type, 1000 foot range.
- Detect movement and track by motion
detection. 50% +2% if the character is a hunter type.
Follow and locate prey using motion. 500 foot range.
- Feel the vibrations of approaching
things: Humans at 2000 feet, flying vehicle/large animal
4000, ground vehicles/herd of animals up to 6 miles away.
Reduce detection of other flying things to 500 feet in
strong winds over 25 mph.
- Hear ultrasonic sound at 2500 feet.
- Communicate through ultrasonic
sound. Unlike the Xiticix, the sound will be in regular
language. The antennae are also capable of
"speaking" regularly, as well. 2000 foot range
for ultrasonic communication, double if silent.
Tactile Capabilities:
- Identify known objects or substances by touch alone: 65%,
30% if not so well known.
- Identify temperature within 1D6 degrees 75%; includes air
temperature.
- Identify wind direction and speed: 85%.
- Detect rapidly approaching objects from behind/to the
side within 12 feet: +1 on initiative, +1 to dodge
Olfactory Capabilities:
- Superior sense of smell: Smell odors/scents/chemicals
from a mile away and perhaps 2 or 3 miles away if the
character is downwind! Two million times better than a
regular humans.
- Common/strong scents: Recognize and identify
common/general smells or powerful smells: 90% +1%>
- Identify specific/unusual odorrs: 54+2%.
- Track by smell alone: 75% (+2% per level if the character
is a hunter or warrior type), roll once every 1000 feet.
The character can also sense by smell alone and only
suffers half the penalties when blinded.
- Smell large fires and the coming of rain: 60% (+2% per
level if a character is a hunter type) with a 2 mile
range.
- Recognize "fellow hive members" and Queens: The
character can identify Xiticix of particular hives.
Antennae regenerate in 20 days unless the character has
enhanced regeneration.
Cost: 8 million, add 500,000 if the character
wants to make them retractable/concealable. Subtract 1 million if
one brings in the antennae themselves.
