Staakker
This symbiote has very simple motivations and orientations. Basically, it offers it's host a variety of skills designed to help stalk, hunt, sneak, and kill other beings. The symbiote then feeds on the pain and the food the host gets.
Host Type: Most mortal creatures and even some lower-level supernatural creatures, like the Corrupt.
Host Environment: Behind the scalo.
Reproduction: The Staakker can send empathic signals across long distances to find mates. It will then inform it's host, and the mating can take place using spores.
Hit Points: M.D.C. creature with 4D6x10 M.D.
Average Life Span: 10 years outside of the host, lifespan of the host when bonded. One of the great reasons to bond is to be able to mate multiple times.
Alignment: Effectively a miscreant or diabolic with low human intelligence.
Powers: The Staakker offers numerous bonuses and skills all conducive towards hunting and killing.
Bonuses: +7 to initiative (+6 from amplified hearing, +1 from motion detection), +6 to P.S. (+3 if the person's strength was not supernatural before), +6 to P.P., +3 to P.E., +20 to Spd., +2 melee attacks, +3 to strike, +2 to parry/dodge, +2 to pull punch IF the intent is to extend pain, +4 to save vs. poison/drugs, +1 to save vs. magic, +1 to save vs. psi.
Side Effects/Penalties: The Staakker has a few side effects to counteract it's good sides. First of all, it takes some food from the host, 75% of which is meat. Thus, the host has to watch the diet and make sure he's getting enough meat. However, this may be a moot point, because the Staakker's empathic communication is likely to encourage wanton killing and pain; more empathic joy and food. Furthermore, the Staakker will encourage the hunting and killing and eating of intelligent beings, as the meat is typically more and the pain is usually so much tastier. The character also suffers from a -2 to pull punch, unless the intent is to prolong pain, in which case he receives a +2. The host gains a H.F. of 4 when using the symbiote's powers; if the host already has an HF, add +3.
Size: About the size of a silver dollar.
Means of Elimination: Refraining from killing/starvation, surgery, or possible convincing to join a better host; does get a sort of loyalty to a particular host, so the offer must be once-in-a-lifetime for it to forake it's master, and even then it will inform it's master and may return.
Note: The Staaker allows other symbiotes and parasites as long as they only help (and not harm) the host's hunting abilities. It may inform the host of potential dangers of the parasite/symbiote. The symbiote will NOT abide the Para-Sym symbiote and will attempt to have it's host kill it safely.
Market Cost: 80-100 million credits; amazingly popular and experimental.
