Your party is steadily growing. Use a Tent to rest. Now move
on. You don't want to stay here too long, so keep going
north. The monsters here are not too buff. When you reach
the town, your guys will be tired. Sleep and then check out the
place. Talk to everyone and buy stuff. When you leave, you
notice an army coming to the town. Go back. The army will ask for
criminals. When the mayor asks who the criminals are,
you see Fred on the poster! The Mayor says something about
how the Empire is evil and stuff. The Empire will begin attacking
the city. Attack them from the rear.
Your first battles are against soldiers. Kill them quickly
without wasting too much energy. Finally, the Commander will
attack you. He's in a buff tank. He will always go last, but his
main cannon is powerful. Target the upper body. Send everybody
onto the upper body. Firebrand should try to pry open the thing.
Hammer Brothers should throw their hammers. Spiny Shells/Koopas
should be used to attack by kicking them, as usual. Mario should
use his Jump attack. Mallow should use Lightning on the main part
of the tank. Fred should punch. Goombas should try to pry open
the hatch. Predator should Wristblade. Big Fish should use his
angler light attack, ram or bubble charge. The Commander will
spin his turret to knock you off. Use long-range attacks here. If
you can do enough damage, a guy called Mariner will come and help
you out. He'll summon a mantis who'll rip off the top part of the
tank. You can then kill the operator. Take the tank and try to
fix it up. It may be heavy in your inventory, but you'll
want it later, believe us.
Then he'll leave. Rest and then follow him. He'll go a strange
city. When you finally meet up with him, tell him of your cause.
Mariner has a goal in hand: He got defeated by Heinz Faust and
The Cops when he competed in the Carmageddon two-on-two. He wants
to win so he can get his Vacuum Blender and Jason Dolls back. You
learn that all he has as far as weapons are his Minigun, Demon
Mantis, Machinegun, Laser Sword, Railgun, Sledgehammers,
Psi-Helmet, Optic Ray, Laser Blast Eye, Missile Jeep, and
Howitzer Siege Cannon. You'll have to get his weapons throughout
your travels by being good to people, because he got all his
weapons confiscated cause he was mean. You do have some of his
weapons, hopefully; give the ones you have to him. Get into the
Carmageddon two-on-two. Glad you have your tank now? You'll
notice the pile of crap they call a car they give to starting
contestants. It is in the rules that you can fight outside of
your tank, so put Fred, Firebrand, Predator or Mario in, whoever
you feel is strongest. In the fight, have Mariner run circles and
fire the missiles. The tank should target The Cops at the
beginning and Heinz Faust in the middle. That way, the Cops are
prevented from firing their minigun in the beginning and Heinz
Faust is blasted when he becomes a danger. The two are very high
as far as armor, but keep on fighting. They'll probably waste
your cars in the end, but here's where your guys come in.
Firebrand can jump on the back of the cars and tear them to
shreds, Mario can Jump on them, Fred can take his weapons and
swoop to attack, and Predator can climb the arena walls and just
plain be badass. Mariner should be supported by your tank guy
(i.e. Fred/Firebrand/Mario/Predator drag him along). He should
use his Howitzer first, then summon his Demon Mantis, then use
his Railgun (normal fire if the cars are moving slowly,
machinegun fire if they're moving fast), then his Minigun (use
his Superdense/Ricochet/Explosive bullets), and finally his eyes.
If you have to, slam the cars with the Laser Sword/Sledgehammers.
If you have the Superballs, you can do tons of damage with a
little smart playing. When you win, Heinz Faust and The Cops will
talk to you. Talk to them about your quest and they'll hop on.
Dismantle your tank, give Heinz Faust the turrets and some of the
armor, then give the Cops the rest of the armor. Use your money
to buy stuff at the city (we suggest buying better engines for
Heinz Faust and The Cops). Here's how your party should stack up
so far:
Fred:
Level: 24-27
Used for: Brawler; use combinations of his magic abilities and
physical strength. You might have Dragon Morph by now.
Firebrand:
Level: 24-27
Used for: You don't have any Crests yet, so he's a brawler, plain
and simple. His fire is a moderately good long-range weapon. Some
of his other items are nice.
Predator:
Level: 21-25
Used for: He's got good damage-taking ability, his cloak and
medkit is useful, his self-destruct is a nice way of saying
"Goodbye" (although it does require him to die, not
just swoon, which can be a pain...), and his weapons are nice.
Slaves:
Level: 10-15
Used for: Pure support.
Mario:
Level: 15-23
Used for: He's a good brawler, and his Jump/Fireball attacks are
pretty good. The fact that you have the Invisible Cap is also
nice. Too bad you don't have the Metal Cap yet....
Mallow:
Level: 12-18 (maybe 20)
Used for: He's good support because he can heal and attack, but
his regular attack leaves something to be desired for.
Bowser's Squad:
Level: 10-18
Used for: Pure support.
Big Fish:
Level: 10-15
Used for: Support/damage. His ram is not good, but the Bubbles,
Bubble Blasts, and Light Blasts are all good weapons.
Unfortunately, the last two require charging.
Mariner:
Level: 10
Used for: He's a long-range fighter. As far as damage-dealing
capability, he may be the best in your party. His Demon Mantis
and Jason Dolls are good fighters, the Vacuum Blender can do
unprecedented damage if used correctly, his Laser
Sword/Sledgehammers are both good melee weapons, his Railgun
either fires very fast slugs all at once or in bursts (check out
the Gauss Railgun upgrade when you get it), his Machineguns and
Minigun are both loaded with bullets (the Machineguns are for
conserving ammo and striking two targets, the Minigun for just
raw damage), his Optic Ray/Laser Blast Eye give him two unlimited
weapons, his Howitzer Siege Cannon does good damage, his
Psi-Helmet makes him your first character with good psychic
abilities, and the Missile Jeep is a good vehicle. If you got the
Superballs and the Combat Knives, expect two very good weapons.
The Superball bounces and will waste many enemies and the Combat
Knives are very good melee weapons. Protect him.
Heinz Faust:
Level: 6
Used for: Use the turret sparingly. Mainly slam enemies. He's
very strong as far as damage dealing and taking.
The Cops:
Level: 6
Used for: Same as Heinz Faust, except his minigun has more ammo.
Heinz Faust, Mariner and The Cops can carry some of your guys to
keep them from being exhausted when they reach the next city.
Build up levels for everyone outside. When the minimum level is
10-15, leave and start heading on your way. The monsters get
tougher, so don't waste items. The next town is a frontier post.
Stay for the night.
The next morning, the place will be attacked. You can leave from
the back door, but don't. Monsters will still block your way out,
and you won't get any rewards if you don't fight. And if you
don't, you might not get the chance to have Boel. The fort has
only a few mounted weapons, so use them at the nearest and most
dangerous monster. Post your best guys with weapons at the
mounted weapons (unless the fort guys take the machineguns) and
put the rest of your party down below. Pretty soon, the monsters
will start swarming the wall. Mariner should use his Miniguns,
his Optic Ray/Laser Blast Eye, his Missile Jeep to run over
people, his Vacuum Blender, his Sledgehammers to slam monsters,
his Laser Sword to slice many at a time, the Combat Knives to
focus on one enemy, his Psi-Helmet to kill the tougher monsters,
and send out his Demon Mantis and Jason Dolls to protect people.
If you have to, use the non-bounce Superball mode, the Missile
Jeep's missiles (while avoiding destroying the fort), and the
Howitzer Siege Cannon (the radius is not as big and the damage is
more, so you don't have to worry about too much collateral
damage). Fred should get down and dirty with his melee
attacks. Firebrand should use fire on groups and rip people
apart when they get close. Use the Slaves and Bowser Troopers to
do hit-and-runs. Mallow's Lightning Bolt can fry many monsters at
a time. The Cops and Heinz Faust can go out and mow down tons of
guys. Big Fish's bubble beam and his angler light can kill many.
Mario should use Inviso Cap and attack the swarm, then use Jump
to get out of there while attacking and finally use Fireball. The
battle is long, but it shouldn't be too hard. When you defeat the
monsters, Boel will show up and see the fort. He'll ask you to
rebuild it. Do it. After you do, Boel joins you if you tell him
your adventures. The fort guys will lead you to a storage
chamber and ask you to check out the place for stuff. Go to
the back and have Mariner inspect the items. He'll tell you all
of them are his. Take them all. You'll get the Gauss Railgun
Upgrade, the Soul Spear, the Spore Cannon, the Bone Rex, the
Cannon, the Straightjacket Launcher, the Cement Glue Launcher,
the Rocket Launcher, the EM Drill, Vibro Blade and Superhard
upgrades for the Combat Knives, and the Ghost Hands. Buy some
stuff if you want. Boel has some good items with him that he got
from a few places. He also has a Chocobo. If you feel you
need to (we suggest it), build up your levels outside town. If
you feel it's safe to take the risk, put your weakest guys in a
party and get one strong guy to defend them all and have your
other party fight too. Your experience gain per battle will
increase. After maybe an hour, start moving on. As far as
transportation, have Mariner in his Missile Jeep riding with
Predator, Fred or Firebrand, the Cops riding with three other
people, Heinz Faust riding with a few others, Boel riding with
two, and have the rest walk. You could have people attach
themselves onto the vehicles, which is not a bad idea. Try to
keep your visibility down. You'll fight quite a few monsters, so
make sure that you have quite a few Tents. Don't waste Mariner,
The Cops, Heinz Faust or Predator's ammo. When you finally reach
the next town, you'll realize it's a virtual redneck haven. Keep
yourself out of trouble. Go to the Gladiatorial Arena (spelled
Gladyturiol Aarena) and fight the champion, Zebediah Jekial.
Zebediah has a bigass monster truck, so send out
Mariner. Mariner should use his Missile Jeep's missiles to
try to blow Zebediah up. Zebediah has tons of weaponry, so try to
run from him. When you're out of missiles for the Missile Jeep,
use your Rocket Launcher, Howitzer, Superballs, Minigun, Laser
Sword, Bone Rex, Demon Mantis, and Jason Dolls. Zebediah won't
last long. After the fight, talk to him. Tell him of your cause.
He's a good person at heart, so he'll join up. Among his
equipment are his mesh shirts and jeans, his monster struck,
batons, blaster caps, TNT, molotov cocktails, combat knives,
cattle prod, poison darts, and a giant ax named Treesplitter. Now
have your remaining guys on your overworld adventures pile into
Zebediah's truck.
We suggest you go east to a small cave. You'll see some rednecks
panning for gold. They'll tell you that there are some weird
inscriptions in the cave. Go in and go to all four branches. At
the end, you'll win the Bone Thunder Ax (an ax that calls
lightning and thunder), the Staff of Zegon (a weapon that blasts
debilitating magic), the Unerring Sling (a weapon that enables
you to hit enemies in the air or at long distances for normal
damage), and the Runesword (an excellent sword that does good
damage and can also be used as a item that gives extra attack
power). All four are good weapons. After this, move on.
The monsters a few miles around the Redneck Town aren't too
difficult, and they all give up food. Split your low-powered
members and send them around. Make sure that your high-powered
members are always close by. If you stay for 2 hours, the Gun
Shop should open. You can buy Heavy Machineguns, Light
Machineguns, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles, and Bazookas here. Each one
can be equipped or left as an inventory item. Be sure to buy what
you can carry. Shotguns can hit numerous targets at once, Heavy
Machineguns can punish one target, Light Machineguns conserve
ammo, and Sniper Rifles and Bazookas harm targets badly. Sniper
Rifles are better against organics while Bazookas blast robots
and mechs.
Continue on fighting until you reach about 4 or 5 levels higher
than what you are at. Then go forward. You'll start encountering
tougher redneck style monsters, then mixes of FF3 and redneck
monsters, and finally only FF3 monsters until you reach South
Figaro. At South Figaro, take your money and buy some new
equipment, especially Relics. You can buy tons of relics, and the
guy has some Materia. He has:
3 Life Regens (expensive, but worth it)
5 Final Attacks
5 Steals
3 Captures
1 Marauding Golem Summon (summons a punishing Golem)
3 Death Explosions
3 Regens
3 Lores
2 Throws
3 Jumps
All of the above are expensive. After this, check out the
cafe. You can hire about 10 guides up Mt. Kolts, which has
changed significantly. Here are the choices:
A Hunter Cat. He comes at level 15. This race of berserk
genetically altered panthers are strong, fly into berserker
rages, can generate bolts of force and forcefields, and do other
cool things. He costs 2000 GP and is fairly mercenary, meaning
that she's bound to you by money. If you take care of her and
became a trusted ally, though, she might stay for staying's
sakes, especially if the money's good.
Finn. Level 20. He has two swords, Feeder and Glare. Glare has a
constant glare while Feeder feeds on your enemy's life force. He
was created by someone for Chrono Trigger. He starts with about 3
or 4 moves. His element is Shadow. He costs 2500 but is willing
to help fight evil for free.
A Glitter Boy Killer. Level 15. He's an exile from the CS and is
still armed in his original battle gear. His mech has numerous
vicious vibro-blades, rockets, three lasers for anti-missile
purposes, etc. He costs 2000 GP and is also fairly loyal, because
he has nowhere else to go.
Pokemon Trainer. Level 10. He has a level 17 Pidgeotto, a level
11 Pikachu, a level 13 Hitmonchan, a level 14 Meowth, a level 11
Kadabra, and a level 20 Dragonair. He costs 4000 GP and is pretty
loyal, especially if his Pokemon gets lots of experience. He
comes with a Terran Medic who's his girlfriend. She has Optical
Flare, Healing, Restoration, surgical lasers and a plasma
projector.
Nolan. Level 20. He's got a really big ax. Aaron created him. He
costs 2000 and is pretty loyal.
Joey the Mink. Level 20. He's created by Justin and has a
bazooka, good smell, and some other weapons. He costs 2000 GP.
Wolf. Level 20. He is an FF3 created character. He has two moves:
Backstab, which is a move that sometimes does 1/2 damage and
sometimes does critical hits, can cause doom and status changes,
and cripples enemies. It works by stabbing opponents into the
back. And he has Tech Man, which enables him on his own to do
Tech combos. He costs 1000 GP.
Alex King. Level 20. He pilots a mech with a PPC, 2 LRM
batteries, 3 autocannons and a drill. He costs 3000 GP.
Brian. Level 20. He comes armed with a Third Eye (greatly
increases evade), Prism Specs (maxes attack power) and good
weapons. He starts with 3 or 4 moves too. 2500 GP.
Storm. Level 20. She comes armed and is also very good with a
sword. Having her, Finn and Brian gives you three very good
swordsmen. 2500 GP.
Glitter Boy. Level 15. Has a really powerful Boom Gun. Costs 2500
GP.
Juan Estez. Level 23. He has two claws, a sniper rifle that fires
small energy pellets, a chaingun on his left arm, a constant
laser on his right and a small autocannon mounted on his head. He
also has two revolvers and a boot knife. He costs 2300 GP.
The Warlock Brothers. Level 20. Four guys, each is skilled
in a area of elemental magic. They cost 6000 GP at once.
Dragon Rider. Level 15. Has a bigass spear, a big sword, a cool
ride, a gun, etc. 1500 GP.
In addition, you hear Shadow just moved on. Dang it! Remember to
choose well, because who you choose can have a major effect
later. We suggest saving up 28,300 and getting them all. Then go
up to Mt. Kolts. Armed as you are with many strong characters,
the local monsters should be able to be slaughtered. Raise some
more gold for some more supplies. All of the people above start
out with some form of transporation: a car, a horse, a pick-up
truck, etc. These can be driven up the mountain. You can give any
excess stuff to Escargot Express, who holds your stuff and
delivers it. Their head of operations in your area is Ness'
sister, so be sure to give them a call. You can also get some
Mach Pizza at the place, not delivery.
After you've stocked up with pizza, weapons, and healing
supplies, storm the mountain. Raise everyone's levels up to above
20, cause you're going to have an epic fight at the end. The
mountain is long, so the weak enemies do add up. Don't play
games; try to kill your enemies as quickly as possible. Be sure
to take the detour and save the hunters from the vicious
Hatchling Dragons; you'll get a few weapons for Mariner, some
gold and experience, and everything in the dragon's den. At the
end, you must face a Soul Giant and his minions.
The Soul Giant is a giant who commands spirits. His bodyguards
are two spirits and two possessed character, namely Zeratul and
Cyborg Commando! Defeat the Cyborg Commando and Zeratul first.
Storm should use Top Spin to discourage Zeratul from attacking
and Rage/Hand Strike on Cyborg Commando. Juan should use the
Sniper Rifle/Constant Laser on Cyborg Commando's cannon. Mariner
should send out subordinates who should attack who they can. If
you have Steal Materia, you can steal numerous valuable things
from Cyborg Commando, Zeratul and Soul Giant, including their
weapons and GP! If you have Lore Materia, you can learn many of
Soul Giant's spells. Have Medic Heal if necessary and Optical
Flare Soul Giant, Cyborg Commando and Zeratul. She should also
try to Restoration attacks from the Soul Giant. Mallow should use
Lightning Bolt to hit everyone and healing spells. Mario should
either Jump Zeratul/Cyborg Commando/Soul Giant or use Fireballs
on them all. Fred is one of the few who can hurt the spirits, so
have him try to hit both spirits or one of the spirits and one of
the other targets at once. Firebrand can tussle with anyone
physically while torching them. Since he's one of the slower
ones, hit the one who's bothering you the most. Predator can
Shoulder Cannon anyone or try to Wristblade/Smartdisc Zeratul in
the back. The Glitter Boy should target the deadliest target.
Brian can attempt to Parry Zeratul or Cyborg Commando. Use
Devil's Dice or Poker Strike on annoying targets. Finn can move
quicker and elude Zeratul, so if you have Brian, Storm and Finn,
you can majorly annoy Zeratul. Hunter Cat should activate his
forcefield and attempt to protect others. Alex King should
focus on Cyborg Commando, the spirits or Soul Giant, i.e. the big
enemies. Wolf should attempt to Backstab or Tech Man. Pokemon
Trainer should use Kadabra for Soul Giant or the spirits. Zeratul
is psychic, so avoid attacking him. Nolan should hit any enemy in
his range. Joey the Mink should Bazooka the Soul Giant. Heinz
Faust and The Cops should either hit the Soul Giant with their
weapons or ram the Cyborg Commando and Zeratul. Boel can try to
sell Cyborg Commando or Soul Giant Bombs. Zebediah should run
over Cyborg Commando/Zeratul. And the GB Killer should laser the
spirits or get personal with Zeratul.
Your enemies will move first. Whoever gets hit by Zeratul and
Cyborg Commando will be hurting. The spirits and Soul Giant will
be pretty defensive until you remove Zeratul and Cyborg Commando.
Then Soul Giant will use his soul magic to either possess one of
your characters or cripple their magic/special skills. The two
spirits will either possess or viciously attack. Many of your
members will be at a loss to hurt the spirits, so focus their
fire on the Soul Giant. They who can target the spirits
should. Keep on reviving the people who are possessed or who
die. Use your items liberally. If you fight conservatively, you
should win. Take a rest and go out the other side.
When you reach the bottom of the mountain, Zeratul and Cyborg
Commando will stop you. They will say that now that they are no
longer possessed, they will help you. The two both do huge
amounts of damage. Zeratul thinks his Dark Templar are in another
town. He'll lead the way. If you've shown your guides that you're
trustworthy and strong, they'll stay with you.
