Founder of the Spellbinders

Guild History in the eyes of Bacris

The Spellbinders were born out of the ashes of the Order of Elements. Ceruth Lurieth, a young wizard, was one of the few members of the Order of Elements before it disappeared from the face of Norrath. One of his guildmates was Sinorii Snowwytch, a Barbarian Shaman. These two were good friends and fought many battles together. However, as time progressed, the Order of Elements fell further from the brief shining glory it had once held. It was at this time that Bacris Spellbinder, a young magician, would meet Ceruth Lurieth and learn of the floundering guild.

Bacris heard the heart-wrenching story of the fall of the guild Ceruth had come to think of as his family. It was this story that led him to create The Spellbinders, to be a haven for those in need of help, friends, and camraderie. He agreed with the Order of Elements, that casters needed a guild to call their own. So he created the Spellbinders, a guild of casters devoted to helping those in need.

Many times guild members would hold contests to give out small amounts of money or prizes to struggling adventurers first starting out in their lives.

With time, patience, and lots of energy, the Spellbinders grew into a decent sized guild, with Bacris bringing over a few of those from the Order of Elements, giving them a haven to call home.

It was in these early days of the guild that members like Thume Rayder, Illist Allure (now Longpath), Rist, and many, many other great guild mates joined the Spellbinders. With these new members, a family was born, and many adventures took place between the guild brothers and sisters.

As time passed, however, Bacris became increasingly secluded, studying such things as Brewing and Blacksmithing and forgetting about his adventures. These times marked a slight downfall of the Spellbinders. Many good members, some of whom an integral part of the guild, headed to more active guilds, some to guilds where they would have more people of an equal skill, for in these months, the guild was dwindling. Without Bacris's active leadership, the former growth was dwindling and becoming more people leaving than coming into the guild.

Finally, however, Bacris realized the folly of his seclusion. He withdrew from his studies to find his guild in a poor, poor state of affairs. Some of his officers had mysteriously vanished, leaving huge gaps in the management of the guild. Others were forced to leave so that they could continue to adventure. Indeed, it was a sad day in Norrath when Bacris discovered all of this happening.

But Bacris vowed that The Spellbinders would not die like the Order of Elements had. He found some of those still in the guild, the guild that he had seemingly abandoned to its own devices, and vested some power into the new blood. Mandoman, Eromus and Meluin were called upon to help lead the Spellbinders into a new era. An era where the guild's vision would finally come to a fruition, not simply a motto, but a reality.

To accomplish this, Bacris realized, after being enlightened by some of those who had left, that a spellcaster is wont without someone to guard his back and defend him. What good are spells if you cannot cast?

With this realization, some would say stubborn denial that was finally overcome, the Spellbinders opened their doors to warriors, monks and rogues, the Guild Warders and Guild Assassins.

However, the damage had still been done. With the loss of so many good people, the Spellbinders were in a difficult state of affairs. Bacris knew that he could not do it all on his own, and he realized that in the past he had not empowered his officers enough, making them only members able to invite other members and not true guild officers. Once the folly of his actions was apparent to Bacris, he resolved to put more responsibility on those entrusted as Guild Officers, for these were the guild members to keep the guild in order when Bacris was unavailable.

As Bacris moved on to pursue more of his goals he turned the Guild over to Slomon who has ran the guild and comtinued to bring Pride and honor to the "The Spellbinders. [ More will be added as soon as possible.]
