This guide from Sylicus was thought of after we had a conversation about this site, and he decided he could contribute something or other to us. With a little editing, we received his document, and thanked him for the contribution to our library. With a bit of editing and formatting, we were able to transcribe his wisdom from elvish script to the common language you see here. We thank him profusely for his contribution. Added are a couple of added comments to the end for other extra tips. To do all this, pick up your armor, weapon, pack, ear bag, and some potions, and get ready to work up to nobility. |
For all you Knights out there that want them ears for some fancy titles, I
have composed a system here of how I do it, and it works really well, actually.
First, for starters, you should at least be level 10 or higher (I am guessing,
just for your safety), and hopefully your not an elf or half-elf. (I know,
pretty annoying being a half-elf doing this run)
First off, start with the Orc Waterfalls, 2 west of the Troll's Signpost. Kill
the two scavenging orcs outside, then enter the waterfall. You might get
pushed out several times by the water, but keep trying. There, you'll find
2 orc guards, fairly easy if you're a fighter, you can just outflank them and
disarm 'em. After that, keep travelling up the tower, and you'll run into
two orcs and a bugbear. (Not an orc, I know) After that, keep following
the corridors, and you'll come to a Tattooed orc (shaman). Watch out low levels,
he's a nasty one if you don't know what to expect. Summons spooky light on you
and stuff. =) Then, you head to the room north of there for two easy ears, even
though they are not orc ears. Just search around a bit, and you'll see.
Next part, you will want to go to Dalair. The rooms to the east and west of the
Orc Merchant are an excellent source of six very easy orc ears. Then, you'll
want to take out the two bugbears to the north and west of the merchant, and the
surgeon to the east. (he's not easy if you are low level) After, you'll want to
take on the orcish punk that hangs out at the tavern just north of there, and
the Slaughter House Attendant just to the south and east, north of the surgeon.
You might even find an orc mercenary in the tavern, but he's tough if you low
level. After that, you will want to head west of the Orc merchant and kill the
two acolytes, and the Orc sorcerer. Fairly easy, if you are not low level. Then,
proceed all the way east until you reach the orc sentry. (One east of the
eastern orc rooms.) After him, you'll run into an Orcish Warrior and
Recruit. Watch out, the warrior is tough, and the recruit runs everywhere.
I suggest if you are low level, party with someone, or carry extra healing
materials on you. After that, you can head south, where you will find another
warrior and recruit. Then, head to the room north of the southern room, and you
will find the warrior, recruit, and an orc sergeant. Watch out, the sergeant is
very tough. Then, if you are high level or have a good party going, you can take
on the orc captain and lieutenant to the east, but I highly advise you do not do
it if you are not of lvl 16 or higher. They are very tough. Then the
orcish chieftain to the north. Naturally, you will have to take him out with a
party, because there is no way you can take him out on your own if you are of
low levels.
Next, you want to head west and southwest of the orc merchant, then north, until
you reach two orcish door guards. I advise either being of level 10 of higher,
or with a party to do these guys if you have not fought them before. They are
fairly easy for higher levels. Next, continue down, and you will run into
another guard. Easy as the first two, but a wee bit tougher. Next, you'll want
to head west and north, into the kitchen. There, you'll find a mean ole nasty
plump cook and a servant, both orcs. Open the cupboard to find some treats, then
take them out. Servant is very easy, but the cook is a little on the
tough side if you cannot disarm him. Next, you will want to proceed north
where you will find two door guards. Beware, they are very tough if you
fight them alone, and should not be attempted at all by low level parties. After
those two guards, you will find the Orc Prince, Princess, and Queen. These can
be taken out with parties, or high level solo's. To be advised, they are very
tough. So watch out. Then, if you have a party, preferably a high level one, you
can take on Kazarov, the king of the mountain orcs. I strongly advise no
low level parties try him, it will be a fruitless effort. He hits hard.
If you are able to run through all that by yourself or with a party, one run
will bring you approximately 43 ears if you kill them all except the Orc captain
and lieutenant, chieftain, and Kazarov. You don't have to kill all the harder
orcs, but you can keep cycling through the easy ones for tons of ears if you
have the patience. If their are just no orcs to be found in those places, you
can always search the forest to the south and west using your orc sense. They
usually inhabit quite a few orcs. But be advised, they can be tough for lower
levels.
Well, enough of giving away my secret for ears. =) There are many more
ways to find them, and probably better ones, too. But that is the easiest one I
have discovered and hope you like, too. :)

Buckingham's Comments - Another great place for getting ears is the Orc Garden: 15w,5s, enter. 2n for first orc, then u,w for second, then 2e for the last ;) Anasazi guards (11s,16w,4n,e,n,3w,s,e) and other from there 3e,s,e aren't too hard too (3-4k?) and almost demonic.
