BackgroundBenton was born in a parallel universe, almost identical to our own. There, as here, the Andromedan Kelvan Empire attempted to conquer the Milky Way Galaxy about 100 years ago. Benton was raised in the snow-covered northern latitudes of New Kelva, the small planet colonized by the original Kelvans after their failed campaign. Sometime after the original invasion, the histories of the two universes diverged. In Benton's original universe, the Kelvans invaded the galaxy again in 2377. He joined Starfleet to help fight his distant kindred. His first assignment was the USS Virgo, which was fighting on the front lines. It didn't take long to realize however, that the Kelvans were more than a match for the combined forces of the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. The Milky Way lay in smoking ruins, Captain Maruu of the Virgo was killed and the Virgo was destroyed. Benton and a tiny handful of others were the only ones from the Virgo to survive. Fleeing in escape pods, they hid in a dense asteroid field where Benton found an alien device resembling a hand mirror, and when he activated it he was transported to our universe. After telling his incredible story to countless Doctors, Admirals and other Federation officials, Benton was allowed to join Starfleet in this universe, although he suspected there were forces at work behind the scenes, among them a leather-clad man named Sloan, that smoothed the way for him. Personality:Because of the harsh conditions
and brutalities Benton witnessed during the second Kelvan invasion perpetrated
by members of his own race, he tends to be somewhat withdrawn and grim.
He feels he does not belong in this universe's Starfleet, and longs to
someday to return to his native universe and give the Kelvans some 'payback'. SpecialAbility:Outwardly, Benton appears to be completely human, physically indistinguishable from an extremely healthy man. Mentally and psychologically however, Benton has pronounced Kelvan tendencies. Kelvans have complex minds and mental discipline, capable of processing multiple streams of thought simultaneously. Like the rest of his kin, Benton
has a hard time comprehending human emotions, and as a result, will often
react oddly to situations. Service Record
