FamilyBackgroundBoth parents were Starfleet officers, her father was Helm officer aboard the USS Starchaser and her mother a shuttle pilot at Starbase 130. Both her parents are now deceased, killed during the Dominion war when the USS Starchaser was destroyed defending Starbase 130. Her mother was on-board only because she had just brought fresh supplies aboard and there was no time to allow her shuttle to depart before the Starchaser left. Tricia was only eight at the time of her parents death, living on Earth. She was passed between various relatives, never being allowed to settle in one place. It wasn't until she was nearly sixteen, when she started to live with her mother's parent's who had recently returned to Earth after her grandfathers retirement from Starfleet that she began to feel secure. By then, Tricia had developed into a rather inward-looking and closed off person. It was her grandfather that started her interest in flying, allowing her to take the controls of the family shuttlepod. For the first time in her life, someone was taking an interest in her and her sparkling personality began to blossom. Although both intelligent and beautiful, she made few friends at high school. Her most infamous act as school was to break three ribs of the Captain of the Parisie squares team, who had tried to make a pass at her during a party. After high school, her grandfather persuaded her to apply to join Starfleet Academy. Although she was unsuccessful at her first attempt, she was accepted in the Academy the following year after attending the Academy preparation course. Her flight skills were excellent (Something she obviously inherited from her parents) and her fight tutor said that he had never seen anyone take to flying unfamiliarly vessels as quickly as Tricia did. However, her love of flying took over her life and she spent every available opportunity to fly, at the expense of her other studies. Having just scraped through the first year, her second year at the Academy was a total failure. Towards the end of the year, she was ready to quit the Academy but then Arthur Ford came into her life. Arthur was a third year cadet and was in 'command' of a second year cadet excursion to Mars. When the runabout suffered an EPS overload which injured the pilot and sent the runabout hurtling towards Mars, Tricia instinctively took over the controls and stabilised the runabout, bringing it safely to land. This not only got her a commendation from the Academy, but also brought out another side of Tricia's personality. For the rest of her second year, she spent more and more time with Arthur and she dismissed her idea of quitting the Academy. Repeating her second year, with the help of Arthur, she progressed through the Academy and left with a honours degree in Astronavigation, something that at the end of the second year even her tutors thought she'd never achieve. After leaving the Academy, she spent a year as a VIP shuttle pilot, transporting Admiral's and Captain's from Starfleet HQ, around Earth and the Sol system. This brought her to the attention of Admiral Ross, who saw just how skilled a pilot Tricia was and suggested to her that she was wasted chauffeuring 'Big-wigs' around and that she should transfer to a deep space vessel. Three months later, she was aboard the USS Stoker as assistant helmsman, a logistical support vessel operating from Starbase 124. A year later, Admiral Ross sent a personal message to Trish, saying that there was a position open onboard the USS Ronin as shuttle pilot and that if she was to apply, Admiral Ross would do everything in his power to ensure that she was considered for the post. Tricia did apply for the transfer and was accepted as shuttle pilot aboard the USS Ronin Service Record
