Kurell (kuh-REL) is the Power of jealousy, revenge, and thievery. He is most often depicted as a raven-haired rogue with bright green eyes, wearing dark robes over leather armor, wielding a dagger in his left hand and a short sword in his right. During the early days of the World Empire Kurells worship was at its most widespread. Today, thieves comprise the majority of his worshippers.
Desires must be siezed, for experiencing the act of taking brings joy. Suffering must be avenged, for only retribution alleviates loss. Those that have wealth do not deserve it, nor the power and luck who brought them to where they are, and for that they should be scorned. You must take what is rightfully yours when the time is right or forever be shackled to misery, poverty, and nothingness.
Services to Kurell usually take place in secret locations (most often the headquarters of the local thieves guild) and involve braziers of great flame representing the burning jealousy and lust for revenge that fills the Powers heart. Ceremonial robes are emerald green; although when out in public, practicality demands darker colors be worn (try dodging the city watch while wearing bright green robes). In these instances, clothing is usually back or brown.
Clerics of Kurell do not participate overly much in the "above board" affairs of society. The interests of their Power make them more suited to the dark alleys and seamy bars than the Emperors Court. Quite often, they are important players in the politics of the local thieves guild. And since the congregation consists almost exclusively of thieves, the material assets of the church are great (second only to the church of Zilchus in this regard). However, this also keeps them on the run from local authorities. The whims of the Power they serve dont make things any easier, either. Kurell will often demand that objects of art and (especially) relics of other churches that are prominently recognized in/by the community be stolen and offered in tribute to him. Consequently, great mistrust exists between the clerics of Kurell and all others. Only in the most dire of circumstances will a cleric of another Power knowingly cooperate with a cleric of Kurell.
