Sotillion (so-TIL-ee-on) is one of the four Powers of the seasons. These are ancient Powers worshipped mostly now days only by the common folk. In the distant past these Powers were much more active and still are considered powerful in that they are the actual forces of the seasons, as much as personification. Early in Wearths past the four Powers of the Seasons (Atroa, Sotillion, Wenta, and Telchur) formed a single hierarchy, as all were part of Beory. Now it is rare to find any acting in concert.
When the wind blows from the south and when planting is done, it is time to rest and enjoy the warm weather with good food, pleasant folk, friendly gossip, and content quiet. Hard work and strain are things to be avoided. If your rewards are threatened, defend them with zeal like the great cat defends her young, for life, without its comforts is a life not worth living.
Sotillion, Lady of the Moon, is seen as a statuesque women of incredible beauty and grace, wearing leather armor and carrying a long sword and shield. She is considered the source of strength and vigor that comes from being in the prime of ones life.
Sotillions clerics conduct coming of age ceremonies in the church and community. When the proper rituals have been completed to the satisfaction of these clerics, one is considered an adult from then on. This was perhaps the most pragmatic wing of the church, and saw to the more practical concerns such as defense and the protection of the church. They were soldiers of the church, and tended to their duty with stoic strength. Traditionally, only men have acted as clerics of Sotillion.
