Vaprak (VAP-rak) is primarily a trollish Power, but his worship is gaining strength among some of the more evil ogre tribes.

Vaprak is a particularly unappealing Power by human standards - he happens to be a hybrid of the worst aspects of troll and ogre, and his worshippers emulate that image. His troll clerics are far more cunning than the average troll, and have some conception of self-preservation (if not fear). His ogre clerics seek to gather more tribes into the fold, and engage in acts of wanton cruelty and destruction whenever possible.

Clerics of Vaprak show no mercy in battle. They will only spare a life if they have some particularly gruesome sacrifice planned. A cleric of Vaprak must prove himself by slaying a human (or demi-human) cleric in single combat. This tends to make life near the Mermist Marshes somewhat stressful for aspiring clerics. Once they have slain the cleric, they take his (or her) bones and carve them into an unholy talisman, marked with runes of destruction and the taloned hand. This talisman grants them power over dark spirits, and eventually the power to wield clerical magic. They lose all spell and spell-like powers without it, although they retain their regenerative abilities.
