The X-Zone Chronicles-by Time Squared
The next morning, Yamcha was awakened by the sounds of war. The
yells of courage, the clank of swords, the "twangs" of
Bows, and screams of agony. He jumped to his feet, looked around,
and feeling rather foolish, turned off From Finland's Stereo.
"How he got that I'll never know," he thought
quite correctly.
The rest of them woke up in time and they stopped briefly on
thier way out of Narshe to buy bread for the journey. As they
ate, Time Squared outline the plans.
"We're heading to Figaro Castle," he said, "we'll
need to get a ride under the mountains to Zozo. I heard that it's
been overrun by evil warlocks and this great convention of sorts
might be the work of one of the Great Monsters."
"Great monsters? Figaro?", Yamcha looked at Finland in
a way that said, "Help me! I'm confused! Help!"
"Well this world is a lot like the one we left. Stuff is
still the way it used to be. And as for the Great Monsters, they
are horrible monster sent into our world the same way as you or
I, X-Zone. One last thing, I've seen people 20 years apart in
your time, show up here within a month of each other."
They left Narshe and headed for Figaro Castle. Within an hour's
hike they reached it. Mike8787 stepped up to the door and knocked
politely.
There was no answer, so he knocked again, distinctively louder
this time. They all knocked at once, and still there was no
response. Frogdude kicked the WELCOME mat in dismay. It
was caught by the desert wind, and the desert wind, ready for a
game of catch, threw it back.
"Oooff!" exclaimed Time Squared after being slapped in
the face with a boomeranging WELCOME mat. He threw it
back into the desert and noticed the look of interest on
Mike8787's face.
Mike8787 looked down and there at his feet, where the mat had
been, was the ground. But just a bit to the right was the key to
Figaro Castle.
He picked it up and placed it in the lock that held the huge oak
doors shut. Just as he was about to turn the key, fate intervened
and he was hit in the back of the head with a WELCOME
mat traveling at very high speeds. By this point the wind was
beginning to pick up large amounts of sand as well and as
Frogdude helped Mike8787 up, Yamcha turned the key and the great
oak doors opened.
They went inside and dusted, or should I say sanded,
themselves off. Apparently no one was home. They walked around a
bit in puzzlement about this fact, until From Finland discoved a
note on a table near the throne room; "Gone fishing."
They all accepted this as a reasonable explanation, and decided
to settle in. The sandstorm had really grown in strength and they
saw no reason to risk submerging in such conditions. As the day
wore on they hung out and played Scrabble for a bit, but soon
they dispersed to different bedrooms they had claimed earlier.
From Finland couldn't sleep. He was too excited about meeting
someone new from his world. There were so many things he wanted
to ask. But for now, he just turned up his Stereo and thought
about his old life and the people he had left behind.
Yamcha couldn't sleep. This world was like his before it fell
into ruin. He could see it all again. But then again, he had
failed, hadn't he? He couldn't stop Kefka. He thought about this
and hoped that someone else would be able to save his world from
that beast. But for now, he had a new adventure to look forward
to.
Time Squared couldn't sleep. With the addition of Yamcha, things
had changed. With this extra person they could finally be strong
enough to purge this world of evil. He knew that much for sure.
But as for the specifics, they bounced around his head evading
his grasp.
Frogdude couldn't sleep. He had gotten the room next to From
Finland and that Stereo was booming. He was beginning to think
that the song "Eye of the Tiger" could get rather
annoying after the 20th repition.
Mike8787 slept, he was very tired.
