Background:
Life before your Mutation:
Scott's childhood was a reasonably happy one. Both his parents were piolets and he had a younger brother. He was born in a day when there was barely any mutants at all, and thus almost no hostility towards them. Even if there had been, living out in Alaska its doubtful anything would have come to pass. That is until...
Discovering your Power:
One day while flying, a Shi'ar battle cruiser entered Earth's atmosphere. The Summers plane was shot down. With only one Parachute Katherine strapped both boys together and hoped that they would reach the ground safely. Unfortunately the shrapnel from the plane tore the chute and they almost died anyway. They were lucky enough to fall into a deep snowbank. However, in trying to put himself between his little brother and the gourd, Scott took a blow to head that was sufficient enough to strip him of control over his power when it manifested. It would manifest at puberty and Scott would be fitted with his Ruby Quartz glasses that keep the volatile blasts from tearing through everything in his sight.
How you came to Xavier's School:
Cyclops eventually ended up working with a psi criminal known as
Diamond Jack. However when he was turned into the nearly indestructible crystalline being known as Jack o' Diamonds, Scott turned on his former partner and joined Xavier in bringing the mad man to his end. He accepted the man's invitation to become his second student, and the first X-Man.
Back History:
Scott has over the years always worn the mantle of leadership with pride and fearlessness. Every loss the X-Men have ever
suffered he sees as a personal failure in his own skills and forces himself and his team to train that much harder. Every time Cyclops tries to walk away, disaster is not far off. He has long since resigned that it is his fate to lead the X-men in on the field of battle in pursuit of another man's dream.
Personality:
Calm, Cool, Calculating. If you think your going to out stratigise Cyclops, you couldn't be more wrong. Perhaps one of the greatest military minds since Alexander the Great or Sun Tsu. This however always leaves Cyclops looking like a anal retentive cold fish. True, he certainly doesn't have Bobby's sense of humor, but he does have one when he chooses to show it. That, unfortunately, isn't often.
Only Jean and perhaps the Professor has he ever let see the secret side of him. The side that morns for his fallen comrades. The side of him that watched his parents die in a blast of fire. The side of him that wants to scream that it is just to much. The human side of him.
Special Notes:
Cyclops always wears either a pair of Ruby Quartz glasses or his visor made of the same material. This is the only thing that keeps his powers in check.
