How to make a little dude walk around, just unzip and run in Dream Maker!
To play on http://www.BYOND.com,simply click the link to the left to go to the site. Then click on "Download." There will be a list of downloads. Click on a full installation. After the download, unzip the file using Winzip, or decompress the folder and run the installation thingy. Run Dream Seeker. Pick create/retrieve key from the list by Key Name and click OK. Follow the instructions given. Then pick your key name from the Key Name list and type in your password into the box. Check the Save Password box if desired. Now the Dream Seeker program will log you in. Now, because you are connected to the internet (ahem), There will be four boxes under the BYOND logo, Text, Browser, Pager, and Hub. Text is used for chat rooms and such to show all the text. Browser is...a Browser! If you meet anyone you like on a BYOND game, you can add them you your pager, which is like a buddy list. you can do this by clicking the pager box and then click "Add." Type your friend's screen name, like "CoWdUdE7" (My BYOND sn). That just leaves Hub. GO there and you will reach a differant version of the BYOND web site. You can click on Games Live to look for a game that looks good, and has people in it. In all the time I've been playing BYOND, I haven't found a fun game that was fun without anyone else playing it with me. So, After you click Games Live, you can look down the list for a game that looks fun. If none of those are appealing, click BYOND.FanGames.DragonBallZ if you are not of this world or supernatural forces tell you that you like Dragon Ball Z games, or click BYOND.Raw for all kinds of games from Final Fantasy remakes to chat rooms. If you deside you want to make a game, first go back to the BYOND web site. Scroll down the left frame. Click on Tutorials or Libraries. Download a lot of these (like 2-3 of each). When they are opened, it will load Dream Maker. Click on the differant code files (they should be some of the top files on the left frame)to load them. They may seem complicated at first, but if you seem overwhelmed, download some more, try posting something on the forums (found on the main web page, leave a message like “Help me!” and some know-it-all will help you), look at the Frequently Asked Questions, or buy the blue book for $20 (Plus Shipping and Handling, which is like five dollars more), though I am not sure how much the Blue Book helps, because most of the people who made the most popular games don't have one, so I do not recommend buying it. Yes, that sentence has ninety-one words. If you STILL seem overwhelmed (by coding on BYOND, not my big sentence), I'm thinking about posting a tutorial on the site myself. Don't worry.
