--------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10 From: Kitty At: Thu Jul 25 02:48:46 2002 (Conn) Fldr : 0 Status: Read To : Kitty, Colossus Subject: IC note! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- In among Piotr's mail today, he finds a perfectly ordinary envelope addressed to him in a mostly-familiar hand. It's not /quite/ the handwriting he's used to seeing from Kitty; it's firmer, a little more slanted, more about points than curves, but it's still recognizable. Maybe it's habitually different, or maybe she was just rushed or something. Inside is a newspaper clipping, neatly trimmed and precisely folded: Scandal at Lighthouse Hospital Members of the Board were shocked when, due to the help of an anonymous person or persons, a 15 year scandal of lies, conspiracy and murder was uncovered. More than 100 deaths over the past 15 years are attributed to the late Elijah Ballantine, former metaneurospecialist for Beacon Harbor's Lighthouse hospital, and his as-of-late accomplice, one Marcus Blithe, intern at the same hospital. A detailed list of the atrocities performed by these two was not available to this reporter, but one can only imagine what sort of vile acts were discovered given what information has been leaked. It seems that Ballantine was responsible for suicides and murders that were previously cut and dried cases, as well as the physical and mental torture of more than a dozen Beacon Harbor residents. He also arranged the kidnapping and holding of an RN in Lighthouse; she has been released and remitted into the care of a specialist. An small comfort is that Blithe is now in BHPD custody, and Ballantine himself is dead, apparently by his own hand. On a related note, a patient of the Lighthouse Psychiatric Ward has escaped, presumably in the havoc caused by the discovery of Ballantine's fiendish activities. One Claire St. Thomas, who may also use the name Therese Sinclaire, approximately 30 years of age, five ten, 103 pounds, dark hair/eyes. Residents are asked /not/ to corner or approach her, but call the BHPD or the hospital with any and all information relating to her condition and/or whereabouts. Ms. St. Thomas is a highly unstable and dangerous individual; again, citizens should /not/ corner, approach or threaten her, but get to the nearest phone and call the authorities. Folded around the clipping is a note, in pencil, again in the same handwriting, on unbleached recycled paper. It reads simply: "Sorry I've been so busy lately. How are things on your end? - K." --------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 11 From: Colossus At: Thu Jul 25 12:02:34 2002 Fldr : 0 Status: Read To : Kitty Subject: IC Note! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- In among Kitty's mail in a couple days is an ordinary envelope, addressed to her in a familiar hand as well. It's that nearly-perfect, overly practiced, direct from school handwriting that Piotr tends to use when writing to people. Not the same near chicken-scratchings in his journals, but she may or may not know that. Inside is a newspaper clipping, neatly trimmed and nicely folded: Museum Mayhem Police responded to an emergency call late last at the Beacon Harbor Museum of Art. Several thousand dollars worth of artwork and property were damaged in the battle, reported to have involved the criminal known as Spider-Man, and the meta believed to have been partly responsible for the deaths earlier this week at the Velvet Underground nightclub. No one was killed in the battle, but security guard Daniel Struk suffered non life threatening injuries. Struk, in hospital, claims he was saved by the intervention of a 'metal covered man', who may or may not be a robot. Spider-Man and the unknown meta are said to have fled the scene together. Folded around the clipping is a note, in pencil, in the same handwriting, on unbleached recycled paper, completely mimicking the style of her note. It reads: "Not quite as good as it sounds, but back in the saddle. Hope your 'meningitis' does not relapse. - P. (The Other P.)" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
