Tylka leaned over my shoulder, flairing out her leathery purple wings under my chin and tried to bite the tool I was using to write with.

"Ty, no!" I exclaimed in the Novonnian language, swatting my little purple flit smartly on the end of her muzzle.

She cheaped annoyedly and scrambled behind my head under my hair, to bite me on the back of the neck.

"OW! STOP IT!"

Tylka released her bite and slid down onto my book to look up at me and chirp inquisitively. I was kind of mad, not only was she interrupting my study in history but she'd bit me as well. "Why can't you learn to behave yourself?" I asked the flitter, giving her a glare. "You're not supposed to bite me!"

The flitter simply looked at me, cocking her head to one side in a curious manner as if to say, "You can't be serious!"

I shoved the flit off my book and went back to studying for my essay, the little beast squawked loudly and glared her eyes turning red as she realized I wasn't going to give her attention while I still had studies to complete. She looked for a moment as though she were about to leap back up onto my shoulder but a rock suddenly flew past quite close to her causing her to shriek and flap over onto one of my shelves.

I myself about jumped off my bed in surprise. The rock skittered across the floor then hit a wall, it had come from the direction of the window. Ticked, I stood up and stomped over to the window poking my head out. "SHARUU! YOU ARE SO STINKING LUCKY I LEFT THE WINDOW OPEN OR MY FATHER WOULD COME DOWN THERE AND RING YOUR FURRY LITTLE NECK!" I screeched at the black orange-winged Katri a few stories below.

"BAH! What makes you think I'm afraid of your scrawny Novonnian paladin pretty-boy daddy that looks like a walking fruit basket!?" Sharuu shot back, sticking his pink tongue out at me.

Grumbling I grabbed the nearest hard object--my history book, unfortunately--and chucked it down at him. I heard a loud "THUNK" as it connected with his skull and then a heavier thud as he hit the dirt.

"OW! What was that for!?" Sharuu roared from a laying position about three stories beneath my window.

I stuck my own tongue out at him, "That's for insulting my family you Katri pig!"

Sharuu sat up, rubbing his fur-covered head. He growled loudly. "I'm tempted to chuck this book right back up at you!"

"HEY! STOP ALL THE YELLING!" another voice came as a reptilian head appeared sticking out another window.

"Sorry, Eyloic!" I called back. "Just go back to sleep!" I swung out of my window, grabbed a tree and proceded to climb down to the ground. "What is it you wanted, Sharuu?" I asked, tempted to kick the little pest in the shin.

"You'll probably be needing this, I would recommend you not throw it out anymore windows," Sharuu said, holding up my history tome and still rubbing his head. "And as for what I wanted to tell you... I thought you might like to know that Jasi won't be around for a little while."

I blinked at this new information, "What?"

"Jasien's not going to be around for a while," Sharuu repeated slowly, as though I were retarded and needed to have things spelt out for me.

I kicked him in the shin, then, as I'd been waiting to do. He winced and growled, jumping on one foot. "Why not?"

"Remember Sargon of Azon?" he hissed through clenched teeth.

I blinked, leaning back against the wall and glaring down at my stupid robes. "Creepy Sargon? With the yellow eyes? Friend of Jasi's mother?"

Sharuu nodded, rubbing his shin. "Yeah, that Sargon. Well...he toted Jasien off to Azon to have him stand for their Dark Clutch. Who knows why... Jasien's probably one of the least dark people I know other than the fact that he's quiet beyond belief."

"...I see..." I mumbled, rubbing my arms. "Any idea how long he'll be gone?"

The Katri shrugged, his tail flicking. "He'll probably be staying at Azon until his dragon's either an adult or fit to travel. Maybe they'll let him go back to RoF before his dragon's all grown up, if he Impresses. Why?"

"No reason," I responded. "Is that all you needed to tell me?" Sharuu nodded. "Alright then. Can I go get my beauty sleep?"

Sharuu smirked, "Yeah, yah need it...and I just hate to see you go but I love watching you do it!"

I punched him then, right in the gut, and while he was doubled over practically coughing up a lung I climbed back up the tree and into my window. Well...Jasien was gone... And I would miss him. I hope he Impressed the best dragon in that clutch, though! He deserved it.
