Raniear Par'Tallim
Profession: Bard
You approach the Sleeping Dragon table to Find Raniear Par'Tallim, a Half Elf
Bard practicing his mandolin. As
you approach, he sets his mandolin on the table and takes a drink of his rum.
He leans back and grins.
"So, You wanna know what makes me tick? Buy yourself a drink and I
will tell you about myself.
I won't
try to explain how a Half Elf came to live in an Elven town. There
were some odd circumstances involved, as well
as some pulling of strings and some other circumstances that were never
explained to me. What I can tell you is
that I served my time in the military, but I have always loved music. I
have been drawn to the magic the right
verses can create, how a sound can put someone to sleep or make them go crazy.
So after I served my time, I
saught out a teacher, and went to work training to use song and rhythm to work
magic.
"I learned what I could learn, then set out on my own. Now let me explain
what I mean when I say I set
out on my own. I headed up the path to Ta'Illistim, stopped in Sylvarraend
found out that I couldn't even move fast
enough to hit them things, so I continued up to Ta'Illistim, got a major
headache trying to figure out how to get
around that city. So I came home, and realized I like it here, it is my
home and I am going to stay here. So I
started hunting and keeping the city safe from the stuff that would kill a
casual passer by.
Well one day I met Izler,
sneaky little fellow but a damn good lock pick, not up too much on speaking in
public, but we became damn good
friends and have been a team ever since. Well then there was the day that
changed my life for the better, I was
sitting in Victory Court playing my mandolin when I over hear a beautiful lady
say something about the Ta'Vaalor
second Militia. I was interested, so I introduced my self to the lady, by
the way her name is Kahrla, and said I was
interested in joining the Militia. She smiled that beautiful smile, and
inducted me in the Militia. Now I serve the
City, the people and My General Kahrla as a guard in the Militia, and I keep
them fairly well entertained when I am
not out on patrol.
"My parents died many years ago, so I have been alone. and I am still
looking for some more
experienced people to take me under their wing. After all, there is only
so much you can learn on your own. Well
you know basically all there is to know about me that is interesting. So I
will let you go now and talk to more
interesting people."
With that Raniear downs the rest of his drink and picks up his mandolin again.
As you walk away you
hear him start to pluck out a slow but happy tune. As you look back you
think you see a slight smile on his face
as he stares into the candle flame
