Dungeons

Here's a list of all the dungeons in the game, as well as a bit about them. I've managed to find what I believe is every hidden item in the game, with enough Materials to give me a full set of upgrades for everyone, as well as what I believe is every treasure chest. This guide also lists things such as bosses, builder CIMA and stuff relating to the pioneers you rescue, giving you a decent overview of each dungeon in the game. The only reason I haven't done a complete walkthrough for each is that there are already some excellent ones at Game FAQs.

If you just need a checklist on where to find all the Materials by dungeon, so you can fully upgrade your party, try here.

NOTE: Split Floor is my term for a floor where people that got split from the main group end up.

Beginning World (ビギニングワールド Biginingu Waarudo)

Dungeon Type:
Building.

Number of Floors:
3.

You Rescue:
Nobody.

You're Separated From:
Nobody (unless you count the very end, but that doesn't get resolved in this dungeon).

You're Reunited On:
Non-applicable.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Material).
Floor 2 (Poison Block, Material, Key).

Hidden Items:
None.

Builder Encountered:
Pike Nighttrap.

Boss:
None.

Boss Prize:
None.

Notes:
Really just a tutorial dungeon so nothing much happens in the rescue front. You're just leading the characters through as Jester explains things. In place of a boss, Jester fights Pike to the death. Everyone also gets blown away from you at the end, thus starting the game proper. Oh, and don't forget to get the Poison Block on Floor 2, by the CIMA nest Jester tells you to block off, because it is a freaking life saver (once you get the other in Panic Factory, you won't have to worry about sending Ark and Ivy into a nest of Piyons to take hits for the Pioneers).

Silver Snow (シルバースノー Shirubaa Sunoo)

Dungeon Type:
Ice.

Number of Floors:
4.

You Rescue:
Halley on Floor 1.

You're Separated From:
Nobody.

You're Reunited On:
Non-applicable.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Restore, Potion A).
Floor 2 (Potion A x2, Key, Restore).
Floor 3 (Potion A, Status Shield).
Floor 4 (Material, Power Block).

Hidden Items:
Floor 1: Material (near Rog nest after saving Halley).
Floor 2: Material (short part of the L after Halley goes over the rickety bridge).
Floor 3: Material (room Ark points out).

Builder Encountered:
Genox, though Elvira also shows up after the boss.

Boss:
Bruton (dinosaur type).

Boss Prize:
Paralyze Block.

Notes:
Simple enough dungeon, considering it's the first non-tutorial one. Of course, Bruton can be a pain if you don't do the Lightning trick, but most FAQs (and this site) mention how to do it so pretty much anyone who gets stuck finds this out quickly.

Lost Forest (ロストフォレスト Rosuto Foresuto)

Dungeon Type:
Forest.

Number of Floors:
6 regular, 1 split.

You Rescue:
Vanrose on Floor 3.

You're Separated From:
Vanrose and Ivy, due to a Teleport Trap on Floor 4.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 5.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Potion A x2, Status Shield).
Floor 2 (Status Shield, Potion A, Defense Shield).
Floor 3 (Shake A, Mine A, Status Shield).
Split Floor (Potion B, Material, All Dash, Key).
Floor 4 (Potion A, All Dash, Status Shield).

Hidden Items:
Floor 1: Material (off the side path past the black ball shooters, where a Gusnipe is hiding).
Floor 2: Material (by that freaking annoying Bruton Nest).
Floor 3: Material (island where you found Vanrose on).
Split Floor: Material (on the island Ivy and Vanrose appear after teleporting).

Builder Encountered:
Elvira.

Boss:
Moonflow and Sanfraw (flower types).

Boss Prize:
Power Block.

Notes:
First split in a dungeon. You control Vanrose during it, since he wouldn't listen to Ivy, and I'd advise either giving Ivy the Poison Block found in Beginning World or a few Restores, as she has to stand a little too close for comfort by a Piyon nest while Vanrose gets the key.

Dragon's Dungeon (ドラゴンズダンジョン Doragonzu Danjyon)

Dungeon Type:
Fire.

Number of Floors:
6 regular, 1 split, plus the Village of Rooda at the beginning.

You Rescue:
Emmy on Floor 2.

You're Separated From:
Ivy and Emmy, due to a Teleport Trap on Floor 3.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 5.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Potion C, Potion A x2, Status Shield, Restore).
Floor 2 (Potion C, Status Shield, Power Up).
Floor 3 (Shake A, Status Shield, Defense Shield).
Split Floor (Potion C, Status Shield, Material).
Floor 4 (Power Up, Potion C, Material).
Floor 5 (Key, Potion C, Restore).

Hidden Items:
Floor 1: Material (on the way to the chest with the Restore in it).
Floor 2: Material (in area north of bridge by entrance, where you find a lone Rog and nothing else).
Floor 2: Material (in the pool near where you hit the switch to open the exit).
Split Floor: Heal Ring (in the alcove opened up by placing a Red Eye on a switch).
Floor 4: Material (north of black ball launchers).
Floor 5: Material(at the start, send Emmy in the opposite direction from her bridge).

Builder Encountered:
Genox.

Boss:
Fire Dragon (giant dragon type) along with his two heads (dragon head type) and a tail (dragon tail type).

Boss Prize:
Protect Block.

Notes:
Following one of the single greatest parodies ever in a video game, you enter quite an annoying little place. On some floors, balls of lava shoot out at you and can injure your characters if you're not careful, or even if you are (and yes, that counts as Trust Down). Saving Emmy is also a bit difficult due to her low HP coupled with her low DEF and the double whammy of facing the boss of the next dungeon as a regular enemy blocking your way. The boss makes up for it though...interesting concept and Genox is always a hoot to deal with. Oh, and your first Heal Ring is here, you don't want to miss it since it's a Treasure Hunt item.

Panic Factory (パニックファクトリー Panikku Fakutorii)

Dungeon Type:
Factory.

Number of Floors:
7.

You Rescue:
Doug on Floor 2.

You're Separated From:
Halley and Emmy, when the bridge collapses on Floor 5.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 6.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Potion A, Defense Shield, Status Shield).
Floor 2 (Status Shield, Smoke, Shake A).
Floor 3 (Material, All Dash).
Floor 4 (Mine B, Material).
Floor 5 (Heal Ring).
Floor 6 (Key, Status Shield).

Hidden Items:
Floor 1: Material (go across the bridge in the northern part of the room and head left, though since the Hyuno will chase the pioneers, kill it and have them stand on the pressure plate while Halley or Emmy goes across the bridge).
Floor 2: Material (across the broken bridge, heading right from the end to the treasure box).
Floor 6: Material (right most room where the Clayba nest is).

Builder Encountered:
Falcken.

Boss:
Fallayga (dragon type).

Boss Prize:
Poison Block.

Notes:
Hell yeah! You can finally upgrade your weapons after this! Second Heal Ring is found here so now you can have both Ark and Ivy (who are in the most danger) protected at all times, and when you get split up you can give one to each group. That's probably the highlight, since it's one of the cheapest forms of healing.

Cold Snow (コールドスノー Coorudo Sunoo)

Dungeon Type:
Ice.

Number of Floors:
5.

You Rescue:
Eberle on Floor 3.

You're Separated From:
Vanrose, who runs off like a moron on Floor 1; you can count the entire group in as well since Ark goes ahead of everyone else to find him.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 3, after Ivy leads them down there.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Status Shield, Material, Restore).
Floor 2 (Potion B, Material).
Floor 3 (Shake B, Potion C, Material).
Floor 4 (Key, Restore, Material).

Hidden Items:
Floor 2: Material (first alcove near Labylu nest).
Floor 3: Protect Block (walking around the edges of the side room by pressure plate).
Floor 4: Material (in room you find the key in, the opposite upper corner from the box).
Floor 4: Material (southern room opened by killing stuff).

Builder Encountered:
Elvira, though Genox also makes a gloating appearance.

Boss:
Focjabe (humanoid type).

Boss Prize:
Shield Ring.

Notes:
Potion Bs can now be made! As well as cheap Potion As. Gone are the days of Majesty conservation issues! Lots of Materials for such a small Dungeon, too...

Strange World (ストレンジワールド Sutorenji Waarudo)

Dungeon Type:
Building.

Number of Floors:
7, though Floor 4 is divided in two and you can't see the other party.

You Rescue:
Shelley on Floor 2.

You're Separated From:
Vanrose, Doug and Shelley, because Vanrose wants to take the safe way through Floor 3.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 5.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Potion C, Material).
Floor 2 (Material, Status Shield).
Floor 3 (Material).
Floor 4 Vanrose (Potion B).
Floor 4 Ark (Material).
Floor 5 (All Dash, Bomb B).
Floor 6 (Key, Potion B).

Hidden Items:
Floor 2: Protect Block (take a downwards diagonal from the entrance, where the yellow meets the purple tiled backwards "C").
Floor 6: Material (hallway unlocked by characters standing on the pressure plate, center of the room).

Builder Encountered:
Sawma.

Boss:
Belton (dinosaur type).

Boss Prize:
Paralyze Block.

Notes:
Belton's a Cage Match...nuff said. Besides that, you might want to make sure Vanrose's group has a few Restores or even both Poison Blocks (for Shelley and Doug) since they got to walk right past a Piyon nest at one point. Oh, and I just love watching Vanrose getting reamed out by Shelley...because she's awesome like that.

Sky Garden (スカイガーデン Sukai Gaaden)

Dungeon Type:
Aerial.

Number of Floors:
6 regular, 1 split.

You Rescue:
Yurald on Floor 2.

You're Separated From:
Shelley, Halley and Yurald on Floor 4 due to a teleport trap set by Byuno.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 5.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Power Up, Material, Potion B).
Floor 2 (Material, Shake B).
Floor 3 (Restore, Potion B, Material).
Split Floor (Potion C, Material).
Floor 4 (Material, Status Shield).
Floor 5 (Key, Speed Ring).

Hidden Items:
Floor 2: Material (empty corridor requiring you to kill a Fasgun to lower the pillar to enter).
Floor 3: Protect Block (corridor near entrance that you open by killing a Bobyn near the exit).

Builder Encountered:
Falcken.

Boss:
Farlay (bird type).

Boss Prize:
Protect Block.

Notes:
Farlay reminds me a lot of the wizard in A Link to the Past...shoots stuff at you and you toss it back. Though he uses the stuff that can't be shot back a lot more. First home of the annoying floating platform puzzles that always end with Ivy falling off something for me.

Fire Dungeon (ファイヤーダンジョン Faiya Danjyon)

Dungeon Type:
Fire.

Number of Floors:
6 regular, 1 split.

You Rescue:
Philis on Floor 2.

You're Separated From:
All but Doug and Philis...because both Ark and Doug dive into a hole on Floor 4 after her! Yeah, so technically Ark got split from everyone else!

You're Reunited On:
Floor 6 (after the boss).

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Defense Shield, All Dash, Material).
Floor 2 (Material, Restore).
Floor 3 (Potion C, Material, Status Shield).
Split Floor (Material, All Dash, Key).
Floor 5 (All Dash, Material, Smoke).

Hidden Items:
Floor 1: Material (corridor opposite the Payon nest by the exit).
Floor 3: Power Block (corridor with no switches on eastern side of the room).

Builder Encountered:
Genox.

Boss:
Fallayla x2 (dragon head types).

Boss Prize:
Protect Block.

Notes:
Hilariousness ensues as Ark can't figure out what Philis is trying to tell him even as Ivy and the kids tease him; he's so dense. Not to mention how I dorkily keep forgetting which person to move on the split floor to hit the pressure plate by the exit.

Weakling Forest (ウィークリングフォレスト Uiikuringu Foresuto)

Dungeon Type:
Forest.

Number of Floors:
5 regular, 1 split.

You Rescue:
Rick on Floor 2.

You're Separated From:
Ivy, Rick, Philis and Yurald because a Byuno attack freaks Rick out and they end up bumbling into a Teleport Trap at the end of Floor 3.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 5.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Potion C x2, Material).
Floor 2 (Material, Power Up).
Floor 3 (Potion B, Material).
Split Floor (Bomb B, Material, Key).
Floor 4 (Restore, Material).

Hidden Items:
Floor 2: Material (northernmost room on the floor).
Floor 3: Material (southern-most room, where you also find a Potion B in a Treasure Box).
Floor 4: Paralyze Block (room blocked by a cracking floor on the opposite side of the chamber as the exit).

Builder Encountered:
Sawma.

Boss:
Keckfraw (flower type).

Boss Prize:
Speed Ring.

Notes:
I love Rick...so amusing in his antics. Anyway, it's the home of a hilarious exchange between Ivy and Philis where Ivy does the whole, "I like him as a friend...but just a friend mind you!" routine and I roll my eyes at how many times that statement leads to a romantic relationship. As well as running around like a dork trying to get Rick out (though the enemy is usually stupid enough to walk off out of the way when I play).

Air Garden (エアーガーデン Eaa Gaaden)

Dungeon Type:
Aerial.

Number of Floors:
5 regular, 1 split.

You Rescue:
Diana on Floor 2, though you don't really get her before she ends up split from you again.

You're Separated From:
Vanrose, Rick and Diana due to Rick screwing up an attempt at rescuing his fiancee on Floor 2.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 4.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Mine B, Material).
Split Floor (Material, Key).
Floor 2 (Potion C, Material).
Floor 3 (Shield Ring, Material).
Floor 4 (Paralyze Block, Material).

Hidden Items:
Floor 2: Material (southern-most point on the floor, heading towards the switch that opens the way to the next floor).
Floor 3: Material (moving past the Gria nest near the broken bridge).
Floor 4: Material (on the island where you hit the switch to stabalize the bridge).

Builder Encountered:
Elvira.

Boss:
Zikjabel (humanoid type...with wings).

Boss Prize:
Heal Ring.

Notes:
The third and final Heal Ring is here after the boss. Now, you can have both Ark and Ivy wield one, and give the third to whomever will lead a split group. Also speeds up passing it around to heal the others; Ark and Ivy can possibly keep theirs while the third is passed if damage is to a minimal. Here's where I tend to start using Potion Bs for bosses, since from here on out they can be a bigger bitch than normal.

Lonely Factory (ロンリーファクトリー Ronrii Fakutorii)

Dungeon Type:
Factory.

Number of Floors:
6.

You Rescue:
Ileyda on Floor 4.

You're Separated From:
Doug on Floor 2 because he hears Ileyda's voice and gets sent to Floor 5 on a Teleport Trap after wandering off.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 4, same time you rescue Ileyda.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Material, All Dash).
Floor 2 (Material, Mine B).
Floor 3 (Potion C, Material).
Floor 4 (Material, Defense Shield).
Floor 5 (Potion B, Material, Key).

Hidden Items:
Floor 1: Material (corridor where you find the switch to open the way to the next floor).
Floor 3: Paralyze Block (room that only opens when the platform moves into the southern position).
Floor 5: Paralyze Block (part near the broken bridge that juts out from the room in the south).

Builder Encountered:
Falcken.

Boss:
Falcken (in the form of a trio of doomtrains).

Boss Prize:
Speed Ring.

Notes:
Yeah, Doug's split is pretty different than normal. He goes to Floor 5, heads back to Floor 4 to save Ileyda, then when you catch up to them you go the way he came from to continue. We're also now finally fighting the builders themselves, so we get to punch Falcken's lights out at long last.

Twilight World (ドワイライトワールド Towairaito Waarudo)

Dungeon Type:
Building.

Number of Floors:
6 regular, 1 split.

You Rescue:
Jean on Floor 3.

You're Separated From:
Rick and Diana due to a Teleport Trap laced Treasure Chest on Floor 4.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 5.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Material, Potion C).
Floor 2 (Material, Power Up).
Floor 3 (Defense Shield, Bomb B).
Split Floor (Material, Key).
Floor 4 (Potion C, Material).
Floor 5 (Potion C, Smoke).

Hidden Items:
Floor 2: Paralyze Block (southern room with only a Datoreyb in it).
Floor 3: Material (on the long stretch of floor east of the broken bridge).
Floor 5: Material (room next to the switch Teams 2 and 3 are forced to stand on).

Builder Encountered:
Sawma.

Boss:
Sawma (in the form of some ninja/samurai hybrid thing).

Boss Prize:
Power Block.

Notes:
This is the only time when Ark will be in the convoy as someone else (Rick) directs everyone. Parts of it can be a pain...like accidentally provoking the Snipegig nest into sending attackers at the group on the switch, leading to Jean's death as his armor hasn't been upgraded yet. Oh, and the top floor can be a big middle finger sometimes due to a Snipegig nest (again) set in a place where you have to leave the Pioneers for a long stretch of time. Have Potion Cs saved up for this one...

Phantom Snow (ファントムスノー Fantomu Sunoo)

Dungeon Type:
Ice.

Number of Floors:
6.

You Rescue:
Telmia, who encounters Jean and the family on Floor 3. Technically Jean on Floor 4 as well.

You're Separated From:
Jean's whole family due to Genox's trick.

You're Reunited On:
Floor 4, along with Telmia.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Material, Smoke).
Floor 2 (Material, Potion C).
Floor 3 (Material, Mine B).
Floor 4 (Smoke, Potion C).
Floor 5 (Potion B, Key).

Hidden Items:
Floor 4: Speed Ring (in an alcove south of where you have to go for the exit).
Floor 5: Material (right next to the pressure plate needed to get to the key).

Builder Encountered:
Genox.

Boss:
Genox (in the form of a dragon).

Boss Prize:
Power Block.

Notes:
Floor 2 isn't so bad the first time around when you only have to get one person over the bridge, but trying to get both Ark and Ivy the second time can cause lots of cursing. You practically have to second guess the Byuno's movements in order to get across before it leaves the switch. Oh, and when you get to Jean, make sure Halley hits the switch on that island before going back to the entrance...that way you don't have to send him or Emmy over the broken bridge into danger when Ark catches up.

Hope Forest (ホープフォレスト Hoopu Foresuto)

Dungeon Type:
Forest.

Number of Floors:
6.

You Rescue:
Claude on Floor 4.

You're Separated From:
Nobody.

You're Reunited On:
Non-applicable.

Treasure Chests:
Floor 1 (Material, Potion C).
Floor 2 (Restore, Material).
Floor 3 (All Dash, Material).
Floor 4 (Material, Shake B).
Floor 5 (Defense Shield, Key).

Hidden Items:
Floor 1: Protect Block (alcove directly west once you step off the central bridge).
Floor 2: Material (side alcove where you found another Material).
Floor 5: Material (furthest point in the area north of the pressure plate).

Builder Encountered:
Elvira.

Boss:
Elvira (in the form of a giant spider).

Boss Prize:
Poison Block.

Notes:
Elvira is the only two part boss in the game, unless you count Pike or Genox's dragon (both of which need you to kill other parts to get to the one you want). She went pretty easy on you this time around in not making you run after other people once the rescue is over...though she probably has one of the most annoying broken bridges due to how large the area is, how long you need to leave Halley and Emmy there, the fact that they need to get the key as well and the fact that it's the only place in the game to spot an Elbylu; try getting that one's name in English and Katakana on your own...it was a lot of Save State abuse since I wanted to save all the items poor Halley had to use.

Nighttrap (ナイトトラップ Naitotorappu)

Dungeon Type:
Futuristic Building.

Number of Floors:
5 on Ark and Ivy's route, plus each of the other teleporters have two floors (1 dungeon and 1 boss) for a total of 13.

You Rescue:
Nobody.

You're Separated From:
The whole damn group since there are five teleporters and you need to hit the switches on the side ones while Ark and Ivy take the center.

You're Reunited On:
Ark Floor 3 is where you see them again, but you never really lead them around again as they can't reach him from where they're standing, and they get teleported to Ark Floor 5 by Pike.

Treasure Chests:
Ark Floor 1 (Shake B, Potion C).
Vanrose Floor 1 (Restore, Shake B).
Vanrose Boss Floor (Potion A x2).
Doug Floor 1 (Restore, Shake B).
Doug Boss Floor (Potion A x2).
Rick Floor 1 (Potion C, Restore).
Rick Boss Floor (Potion A x2).
Jean Floor 1 (Shake B, Restore).
Jean Boss Floor (Potion A x2).

Hidden Items:
None.

Builder Encountered:
Pike Nighttrap.

Boss:
Brutray (dinosaur type, fought by Vanrose).
Frawdia (flower type, fought by Doug).
Arcjabel (humanoid type, fought by Rick).
Fallaysa x6 (dragon types, fought by Jean).
Pike (inside his giant machine).

Boss Prize:
Potion B.
Potion C.
Potion B.
Potion B.
The Ending!

Notes:
This is it...the final dungeon. Most of it isn't too hard, though Fallaysa does warrant several cursing fests by players; go and give the hardest side boss to the weakest of the Four All-Stars, why don't ya! It's also where I fangirl Ark and Ivy...a lot!
