Vassals: The Disgaea Side Story Anime

Vassals is a set of highly popular amateur anime created by Teefa and the girls. Originally a project for their Media Technology class, the pilot episode was such a hit with the Disgaea fanatics in their school that they were pressured into making a full on anime out of it. The story was the same, which is more than can be said about the real Disgaea Anime, however it followed the viewpoint of their Wild ARMs 3 based generic characters. Later, around the time the first bits of info about Disgaea 2 was beginning to come out, a movie followup was produced, concentrating on events between the two games that tied up loose ends for each of the vassals.

Although Teefa wasn't originally planning on making a sequel, in the weeks leading up to Disgaea 2's release she was bombarded with requests from some of the series' fans for an adaptation of the second game and she gave in. But this led to a problem...the fact that she'd used the same character names (with the exception of one) for each Nippon Ichi SRPG. With only a few days left until the game's release, she struggled to find a game with either enough characters or OCs to fill the roles. Unable to find anything and unwilling to try and play a game of jigsaw puzzle with one of the Suikoden games, she ended up making caricatures of herself and her friends to fill the roles despite not being so keen on the idea. However, it was equally well received due to its use of snide comments about the life of students and the strength of bonds between dormmates, as well as that of a person and his/her Digimon Partner. The movie version was made immediately after, following the tradition of the first by tying up loose ends and answering some lingering questions.

A third season, based around Disgaea 3's plotline, was also made. This time, Teefa had plenty of time to find a usable cast of characters for the project, and new games to choose from. Her original plan was to use Fire Emblem 4's second generation, however there were more characters than she'd like to deal with; there was nearly twice as many humanoids involved as the last series. Plus, she couldn't figure out how to deal with the mounted characters. So when she was first introduced to CIMA: The Enemy and fell in love with it, Teefa immediately switched casts with only a few days to spare. Unlike its predecessors, the third season contains two movies: one based in the post-game, and another being the typical "tie up loose ends" movie.

With the release of Disgaea 4, Teefa hemmed and hawwed over what to do. She wanted to be evil and do Touhou (not like the characters wouldn't fit in with the Disgaea cast) but knew she could only BS the all female combat brigade so far. Instead, she took the safe side and went back to her original Fire Emblem 4 basis, cleaning it up to better work in the setting. As it is only just in the planning stage, and likely to change a bit by the time Teefa finishes Disgaea 4, not much is known about the game yet.
