The Fighter That Brought me to Life Soundtrack

A romantic AU fanfic set around the end of Wild ARMs 3's 3rd chapter. It's also based on my theory of Virginia's origins, and her descendancy of the main characters from Wild ARMs 1.

Siegfried notices her Shamanic abilities during the Caging Tower raid, and asks the Prophets to take her instead of Maya. Jet begins feeling new, stronger emotions following her capture, as well as the desperation that comes from knowing her plight. Lots of blushing, two songfics and a sing-a-long that had to be edited out due to the new ToS rules.

Here's an overview of the format...

Track#Title (Artist)
Chapter Name
What is going on in the story at that time.

Oh and a [*] denotes that the song is a part of the "5 80's Classics" that I sooooooooooo wanted on a single CD, and worked into this story purposely.

And if you can't tell from the fic title, it was built around the music instead of the other way around.

1.Something (Lasco)
The Wrong Kidnapping
It plays from the beginning of the chapter, until Siegfried and the Prophets take off. I chose this because of its tune, it shows the frantic tone of the characters when they find that their friend is in danger. Plus, it also seems like a character portrait of Virginia's view on Jet, her feelings and concern for him, throughout the game and story.

2.King of Pain (Police)
The Wrong Kidnapping
After Sieggy and the Prophets leave. Jet kind of is a "King of Pain" because he's suffered in life. Plus, lyrically, the song is sort of confusing (randomly blurting out strange things that the singer sees, as well as the chorus suggesting that the person is somewhat troubled) and that fits Jet's mood in the end of the chapter as he reflects on his worry for Virginia.

3.Inside Out (Eve 6)
Beginning of the Experiment
Virginia wakes up in the lab, Leehalt enters to probe her memory to find the Teardrop, equaling sort of a sense of delirious confusion; though she doesn't show any signs, it still is there. Like the song above, there are some crazy references and confusing aspects to the song, reflecting that mindset.

4.Desert Rose (Sting)
A Boy's Love
It depicts Jet's feelings as the team is setting off on Lombardia. Jet's thinking, and thinking, and thinking of Virginia to the point of a desire he has no idea about. The song seems to suggest desire for a woman, so it was perfect for him. Plus, Filgaia is a desert planet, and Ginny has roses on her holsters.

5.I Would do Anything for Love (Meatloaf)
A Boy's Love
After Jet goes off on his own and is looking for Virginia through the air ducts. He's determined to fight for a love he has no idea exists. Plus, there's a sense of movement in the song that Jet definitely needs.

6.Tender Years (Eddie & The Cruisers)[*]
To Find an Angel
Just after Jet falls from the ducts and lands on Virginia; it's right after the two of them are conscious. The somber, slow movement of this song reflects their longing for one another and the calmness that permeates the chapter before Leehalt arrives.

7.I Can't Hold Back (Survivor)[*]
Inner Strength
This plays during the fight with Leehalt. Both lyrically and from the tune, it shows the intensity they felt during that fight. Plus, lyrically, it describes their inner feelings of protectiveness and longing for love from the other.

8.Iris (Goo Goo Dolls)
Comfort
It's played during all the scenes with Jet and Virginia, after the short Siegfried intro. This originally was a songfic until the ToS change as well. It sort of reflects Jet's inner feelings regarding his pain, worry, and wanting Virginia to understand him despite saying the exact opposite.

9.On the Side of Angels (Leanne Rhimes)
An Angel Watching Over Him
It's another song of Virginia comforting Jet after they're both up. Just to reflect her inner concerns which come out in this chapter.

10.Beds are Burning (Midnight Oil)
Transported
It's played during the transportation to the Dream Dimension and the fight with the Chimera. The tune is the perfect speed to show a not so intense fight and the transportation itself. Plus, it's quite an odd song, fitting for their confusion.

11.Fighter (Christina Agulera)
Transported
During Jet's little leave-taking and solo adventure. The tune is sort of fitting to Jet's rage and forward pushing nature, while lyrically he technically made Virginia a lot stronger (though she doesn't share the singer's feelings towards her wayward beau). During the Bridge (How could this man...You won't stop me) Jet encounters the Tiamatt and is hit, Virginia's guns hitting just at that last line. Then, the next part (I am a fighter...I've had enought) shows a still of her standing there with her bangs blowing in the wind, the battle starting up again during the chorus.

12.In Too Deep (Genesis)[*]
Love's Blossom
It's played from the beginning through Jet's flashback concerning Werner and the resulting thoughts on Virginia. He is getting in to deep himself with his emotions, and Werner was in too deep over his love for Ekatrina and the despair over losing her. Plus, the mood is somewhat somber, reflecting their emotions during these scenes.

13.Make me Lose Control (Eric Carmen)[*]
Love's Blossom
This is the theme for when they begin walking together. At this point, he's practically begging for himself to lose control, as he kisses her at the end of this section, which begins in the last chorus and holds until the song ends.

14.Objection [Tango] (Shakira)
Love's Blossom
The fight with the Lion-thingy. It's a fast paced song that I've used to goof around with character attacks when playing WA3 so it fit. Since there's really no lyrical significance, either the Spanish or English version works for the fic, though I used the English.

15.Bring me to Life (Evanescence)
Powers Coming to Life
This was the other songfic that had to be edited due to the ToS change. It is played throughout the entire chapter and really looked nice in conjunction. All of the pre-battle conversations are done during the slow intro verse to the song (How can you see into...lead it back home), with the Dist Dims chant signaling the change to the faster paced main song, beginning with the chorus.

When we get to the words bring me to life (I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside) bring me to life, that's the part where Ginny and Beatrice are firing the Saint and Dark Matter at each other. In the next part (Frozen inside...life among the dead) Jet is giving her confidence, and then we go on (All of this time...you were there in front of me) where she's summoning her power from the Dist Dims, to Jet's lending her his power (I've been sleeping...to everything), and then her calling on her Guardians (Without a thought...there must be something more)

We go into the chorus where she's calling on her energy and gathering it into her attack. Finally, we repeat the Saint and Dark Matter scene to the same lyrics, and this time Ginny wins.

16.The Search is Over (Survivor)
The Final Leap
Just as the chapter begins, it starts. It is sort of describing the calmness felt during their trip to Humphrey's Peak, the shopping, and dinner at the Winslett residence. Lyrically, Jet has now realized what truly is important, he has Virginia and she'll never desert him. His own search is over at last...

17.Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now (Starship)[*]
The Final Leap
It originated as a singing section where Jet and Virginia were having a duet, she signals it as they sit on the wall, but again we had a ToS change and I had to edit it out. This is a good song for them because they're ignoring the world's view and just allowing themselves to be happy together. But after the instrumental and first choral repeat, they kiss and the song is just being vamped by the background vocals (since that's what is indicated), eventually to shoot to a picture of Gallows playing matchmaker with fireworks...which gets him in trouble with Jet soon after.
