Jet and Virginia's Kawaii Romance

Here's a soundtrack dedicated to my OTP of WA3, Jet Enduro & Virginia Maxwell. Each song on this CD reminds me of the two of them in any way, be it their interactions, inner thoughts, or emotions reflected throughout the game.

You'll read it like this...

Track #Title (Artist)
How it reflects Jet and Virginia's relationship.

Anyway, a few of them, marked by a [*] have an in depth verse by verse look at the relationship in my Songs of the RPG & Anime Couples section.

1.Born to be My Baby (Bon Jovi)
Even though it's a song about lovers living their normal life, the inner messages are similar to J/V. There's this closeness that I see will build between the two of them after Jetty-boy finally gets his head out of his ass and admits his feelings for Ginny. Plus, there's the chorus which reads "You were born to be my baby, and baby I was made to be your man." If you take that literally, Virginia was born naturally of her parents while Jet was made in a laboratory. Thus, the lyrics reflect each one's entry into this world.

2.Iris (Goo Goo Dolls)
This song reflects Jet's insecurity towards himself and his emotions. He seems to suggest that Virginia is much better than he (You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be...). And just like the chorus he..."don't want the world to see [him] 'cause [he] don't think that they'd understand. When everything's made to be broken, [he] just want[s] [her] to know who [he is]."

3.Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now (Starship)
I see this as their private expression of their feelings after Jet finally throws away his pride. They no longer care about what the world thinks, but what the two of them want.

4.That's All (Genesis)[*]
I wanna again thank Skylark Starflower for this song because she had these two sing it in a karaoke contest in her fic. It reflects them because of Jet's changes. He no longer wants to leave the team, has begun learning how wrong he was in the past, and is falling in love even though he doesn't want to.

5.Trouble Me (10,000 Maniacs)
If you want, I can e-mail you the songfic that goes to this one. It's about Virginia's worry for Jet and how she wants him to lay his problems on her. She asks him to trouble, speak to, and let her take care of him when he's down. Virginia also insists... "Why let your shoulders bend, underneath this burden when my back is steady, and strong?"

6.Wind Beneath my Wings (Bette Midler)
Since Virginia is the leader of the gang, the others are often in her shadow. Look at when you face the Schroedingers. Rarely does anyone other than Maya make pleasantries with the Maxwell Gang (Alfred apologizes a few times, Todd notices Ginny is awake, and they talk a little during the Dissection Facility but that's about it). And when Maya is talking, she's talking with Virginia. She asks for advice now and then from her friends, but usually clients mainly talk to her. In this song, we see she's showing Jet her appreciation for all he's done. Even though the world doesn't know, she knows that he has supported her. Plus, it mentions wings which she often does. With her extended metaphor to flying and flight in the game, it would be just like Ginny to call Jet the "wind beneath her wings."

7.In Too Deep (Genesis)
This is actually a songfic that is a prequel to a series of stories I wrote. It put Ginny into the run away situation needed for the full story, but it also has subtle references to Jetty-boy. Especially the lyrics "It seems I've spent too long, only thinking about myself. Now I want to spend my life just caring 'bout somebody else" because it shows how his heart has changed following his relationship with Virginia.

8.Cruel to be Kind (Letters to Cleo)
It does have alternate versions, but I needed one sung by a female since Ginny would be singing this. It talks about Jet's tough love for her. He doesn't go easy on her and baby her, but instead pushes her further and further while reminding her of the harshness of the Wastelands. This shows how he's not the affectionate lovey-dovey type person, but he cares about her by making sure she can be strong enough to face the world in front of her.

9.All You Wanted (Michelle Branch)[*]
This speaks of Virginia's respect for Jet's strength a bit at the beginning, but quickly gets to her true feelings. She wants to help him and protect him from his loneliness. She also recognizes that he only wants someone to care for him, despite the fact that he outwardly denies it.

10.Dearest (Ayumi Hamasaki)[*]
Note that this isn't marking as in depth a translation as the others because the song is in Japanese. I used a few of the Translated lyrics to come up with the comparison. Basically, the two people are always together and taking care of one another. Plus, they've had problems along the way due to hurting one another but made it in the end.
An interesting note, this is the 3rd ending theme to Inu Yasha. Two of the principle characters, Inu Yasha and Kagome, remind me soooooooooooooo of Jet and Virginia.

11.Echo (Trapt)[*]
The male character seems to have a problem with pride and reluctance to admit his feelings for the female character. However, through longing looks, you can see it's there. No matter what the difficulties, they've made it together.

12.Bang-a-Boomerang (ABBA)
Yes, I like older music thank you very much. As the song is about the give and take in love, it fits what Virginia is trying to teach Jet. If he does something nice for someone else, something nice will happen to him.

13.Above the Clouds (Amber)
The couple in the relationship went through tough times, but continued to go onwards with their true feelings. Just like how Jet and Virginia were always spatting and arguing with one another over the stupidest things.

14.I'll Stand by You (Pretenders)
It's about the support one person gave to the other when they were upset. Just like how I'd picture Virginia approaching Jet following the Deus ex Machina.

15.On the Side of Angels (Leanne Rimes)
In the song, the singer has found love despite hardships and misconceptions in the past. Virginia goes through so much crap in her life, and eventually can find happiness with Jet, as well as make his sad life happy.

16.Trip on Love (Abra Moore)
This one actually seems like a humor fic to me, with one of them accidentally blurting out their feelings and the other admitting their own with newfound courage.

17.Falling (Donna Lewis)
Two confused people falling deeper into their relationship. Despite their fears, they can't help where their emotions take them. Just like all of Jet's confusion in practically every fanfic (with Ginny feeling the same half the time).
