"Scar"

A figure stands 7'4". It is wrapped in a cloak made of shadows. The hood pulled down so his face is completely hidden. Large, thick, strong hands are wrapped in tight black gloves made from the hide of a black dragon. Thick heavy boots also made from the dragons hide cover his legs. No sounds comes when he walks. Any weapons he carries are concealed. He will always stay within the shadows.

He rarely removes his cloak. But when he does you will find him in a suit of armor. It fits tight against his body like a second skin. It is the same dragon hide as his gloves and boots. Covering his face though is a simple brown mask. The only opening are small spots for his eyes and a tiny slit for his mouth. And there he remains.. Hidden behind that mask, forever.

My name was Aaron. And this is my tale.

My life started normal, well as normal as the next. My parents raised me to value life and people. I grew up watching them take in run a way and abandoned slaves and teach them to live on their own. That life had it moments. I would have been content to live out my days doing what my parents raised me to. But fate took me down a different path.

I was 18 when it happened. Young, head strong, and full of life. I had set out that morning on a hunting trip to try and catch dinner. All was going well till I met up with him. His name was Kah'Sal. A black dragon that graced us with his presence every few years. Usually he gave warning he was around, but this year he didn't. As I was chasing down the deer I shot I made the mistake of literally bumping into Kah'Sal. He was already in a fowl mood before we made contact. And it didn't get much better afterwords.

Realizing who I had just bumped into I tried to run, but fire is faster then man. Without a word he simply took in a deep breath and turned me into a fireball. As I hit the ground and rolled trying to put it out I heard his deep voice speak in dragon. He was placing a curse on me. My voice disappeared as I continued to burn. Then with his talons he picked me up by the leg and dropped me in the river he was sleeping next to. The water was both refreshing and painful at the same time.

Again I found myself being lifted by his talons and dropped onto the forest floor. My body ached like nothing I'd ever felt before. I could hear his laughing as he walking in a circle around me. Everything I did just made the pain worse. Moving, breathing, even my pleas for mercy. Finally I managed to stand. My blood soaked into the ground where I was dropped. My skin was gone, my body half charged by his fire. I was nothing but muscle and bones. I turned still pleading with him to undo his curse. All he did was laugh at me and fly off into the sky.

I remained there for hours wondering what I had done to deserve this punishment. When night fell the cool air was welcomed to my still scorching body. I began to head home. But upon reaching the edge of the territory I realized my parents would never be able to handle what happened to me. I was barely able to tolerate it, I cold just imagine what they'd say. So instead I turned and headed back into the forest. On that day Aaron died, and I was born.

It was days before I realized the pain was not getting any better. Nor was my skin growing back. My curse became clear that day. I was to remain like this forever. A bloodied mass of muscle and bones. Not wanting to deal with this fate i simply found a tree and rested there waiting for death. Either at the hands of a desperate animal or starvation. Both were acceptable alternatives to my condition. But even death was denied to me. I was stuck like this.

Finally one day I was approached by wizard of sorts. Old and a little out of touch with his magic, but still knowledgeable to Kah'Sal's actions. He took me to his home. Presenting me with a simply brown suit. He said it would help tone down the pain and keep me from dripping blood everywhere I went, and it did. Concealing my entire body save for my eyes that suit was a godsend. Though it still hurt to do everything, at least the pain was lessened to a just passed tolerable state.

As the weeks went by I was fully informed of the condition I was in. Kah'Sal had placed the curse, and only he could lift it. Unless I could convince him to revers what happened I was trapped. Then came more news of the curse. Having no skin left me without a way to conserve body heat, somehow I would have to maintain that temperature. Usually that meant sitting by a fire for some time. Personally I preferred just basking in the sun, just because of my sort time as a fireball, but at night that was hard. But sitting to close to a fire tended to dry my muscles and blood which was a very painful experience. I would have to manage to maintain a perfect balance of water intake and heat absorption A very hard, and VERY painful precess.

After mastering a few tricks the wizard had learned and how to keep the balance of my body I set out on a mission. My target.... Kah'Sal. I would either force him to change me back or kill him. It wasn't long before I found him again. Realizing who I was he simply laughed at me. He had no intensions of lifting the curse. A battle ensued. It took many hours and all my strength to bring him down, but in the end he was killed. I striped his body of it's hide and turned it into armor. That and the suit from the wizard offered some relief from the pain, but now my fate was truly sealed. Or was it? Upon speaking with the wizard again I learned any dragon related by blood to Kah'Sal could lift the curse.

And here I stand today. Still in my tormenting condition, searching. Will I find a relative of his? Will I learn to just accept the condition and attempt to live a semi-normal life? Who knows what the future holds. It can't get much worse. I'm ready for it.
