This persistent world is based on the sword coast in the Forgotten Realms
setting. On the time it is hosted all of the areas from Baldurs Gate to
Athkatla will be finished, with a massive amount (i'm speculating about
10x as many as I've seen on any other PW) of dungeons, cities and plots.
Athkatla alone (which is almost finished) has more adventure in it then
any PW I've seen to date.
Some of our main concerns with this PW are thick and richly detailed plot
lines. Every dungeon or adventure one goes on will be interesting and have
a plot to it. We want this whole world to feel like Pen and Paper. Each
race starts in one of their races cities. This will spread PC's out quite
a bit. We feel this is condusive to role-play, since a PC to PC meeting
will be more dramatic and much more rare then other servers. This will
lead to more role-play when they do encounter one another. Also, since
plot is such a huge concern of ours....PC's will actually have things to
role-play about. Any dungeon or adventure will be stocked with things that
require a group decision....or could lead to an inter party argument.
This world is tailor made to make PC's the most important thing on the
world. PC's will be able to dramatically change and shape the world. There
are NO....I repeat....NO plot characters in this world. Important PC's are
well guarded and (in the case of the larger cities like Athkatla) murder
will lead to one being hunted by the city enforcers (like the cowled
wizards in Athkatla). Merchants and important NPC's are protected by the
Radiant heart and similar organizations who will resurrect those who have
been killed....unless they are killed by a spell such as destruction or
are "chunk death" as in BG2. In such a case that NPC is dead for good.
PC's can join or start their own guilds if they are of an appropriate
level (at 12th level a PC can own a stronghold and begin building his/her
personal guard. There are many areas that will be "for sale") A PC can
start his own order...or join one of the many already in the game. (the
Cowled wizards, the harpers, the shadow thieves, the Order of the Radient
Heart...just to name a few)
There is no respawn in this world. After much intense debate it was
decided that this goes against all that Dungeons and Dragons stands for.
If a character dies and is not resurrected within three days game time,
that character is gone forever. Item Level Restrictions are not on in this
world, Enforce legal characters will be. All items found in game will be
from BG1 or BG2...or directly taken from a Dungeon Masters guide. Resting
can be done once every 8 hours.
