A year before the elves of Rhyanne followed the dictates of the Retreat and moved to the Principality of Jordaine in Arethane, a very young, barely five years old, Aenza Thilvirrea accompanied her parents to services at the temple of Moranthis in the capital, Bael`az`Arbael. Even at such a tender age, she was captivated by the solemn rituals and the aura of reverence that enveloped the temple. Aenza emerged from the service with a sense of familiarity, as if she had known the god Moranthis intimately all her life. In her innocent enthusiasm, she began to proclaim herself as one of his chosen priests, unaware of the formalities and requirements that such a title entailed. Her parents gently explained to her that claiming the status of a priest required rigorous study and dedication, which she, at her young age, had not yet undergone. Undaunted by their words, Aenza nodded in agreement but continued to indulge in her fanciful games of "temple," where she would hold imaginary ceremonies and invite Moranthis to her tea parties. To her surprise, there were times when Moranthis actually attended, albeit always when she was alone and undisturbed. As the years passed, Aenza's fascination with Moranthis and her belief in her divine calling only grew stronger. She devoted herself to learning what she felt she needed from the teachings of the temple and the whispers of the divine that seemed to guide her steps. At the age when most Elven teens embark on their apprenticeships, Aenza made the bold decision to leave home in search of where she was needed, guided by the conviction that Moranthis had a purpose for her beyond the confines of her upbringing. Now, she proudly calls herself a priestess, despite lacking the formal training and approval of the temple hierarchy. When challenged on her self-proclaimed status, Aenza remains steadfast, asserting that Moranthis himself has not withdrawn his favor, as evidenced by the divine magic that flows through her veins. To her, the ability to heal and wield divine power is proof enough of her calling, and she invites any doubters to take up the matter with the god himself. In her unwavering belief, she finds strength and purpose, trusting in Moranthis to guide her on her chosen path. |
