Aglaranna Nar`Xiad
Duchess of Atlan`Ysse
Healer

Aglaranna, born as the sole daughter of the Dragon God Moranthis' Arch-Prelate in the Kingdom of Rhyanne, emerged from the cocoon of a sheltered upbringing. Her early years were immersed in the teachings of the Church of Dragonwright, where she learned to revere Moranthis as the supreme deity, perceiving the other gods as mere helpers or adversaries. This conviction, instilled in her since childhood, persisted as she embarked on her journey beyond the confines of Dragonwright, discovering a world where various gods held sway.

Venturing beyond her protected enclave, Aglaranna commenced her apprenticeship as a Mind Mage/Healer. Her worldview, shaped by the teachings of the Church of Moranthis, remained steadfast, maintaining an aloofness towards other gods that she deemed irrelevant to her life. Despite acknowledging their existence, she relegated them to the periphery of her consciousness, unwavering in her devotion to Moranthis.

Upon completing her apprenticeship, Aglaranna's destiny took a significant turn when she married the then Lord Detherynn Nar`Xiad {Fireshadow}. Her role as an assistant healer in the palace thrust her into unforeseen circumstances when the palace fell under attack by a party of drow and other monstrous beings. In a harrowing night, Aglaranna's bravery shone as she managed to save the king's youngest son, the sole survivor of his family.

This tragic event led to the establishment of Malarick Halfelven as regent, and Aglaranna, along with her husband and a select few, undertook the responsibility of protecting the young king Jaeryth Nar`Xiad. Their clandestine efforts would ensure the heir's safety but led them into hiding, far from the capital, until the time when Jaeryth would come of age.

Upon Jaeryth's maturation, they returned to the capital, only to find a transformed elven realm. A significant portion of the elven population had migrated to the new Kingdom of Arethane, and King Rhysanus offered Jaeryth the principality of Jordaine and Ducal escalation for both Detherynn and Aglaranna, in exchange for abdicating Rhyanne in favor of Malarick Halfelven. Jaeryth accepted, leading to a schism of opinions between Aglaranna and her king.

Rejecting Rhysanus as a usurper, Aglaranna refused to enter fealty to him and instead initiated a resistance to overthrow what she perceived as an illegitimate ruler. Her rebellion planning reached advanced stages, poised for active actions, when a visit from Moranthis Himself altered the course of her destiny. The deity conveyed a stark message: 'Rhysanus is your lawful Valishar by My will.' This divine intervention prompted Aglaranna to reassess her actions, recognizing the gravity of treason against the divine will.

In an abrupt about-face, Aglaranna abandoned the rebellion plans, opting for penance and confession. She compiled all the secrets, ciphers, and names involved in the plot, submitting a signed confession that exonerated her husband from knowledge of the plans. The entire dossier, including discharge and payment orders, found its way into the hands of King Rhysanus.

Facing judgment from T`Shorntane Jaeryth NarXiad, Aglaranna received an unexpected verdict. Jaeryth, choosing the path of forgiveness, allowed her to return to Teradryn. Realizing the gravity of her actions, Aglaranna sought to enter fealty directly to Rhysanus. He accepted, binding the oath on his sword, a testament to the gravity of the commitment. Unbeknownst to Rhysanus, Aglaranna, in a profound gesture of loyalty, added her own binding to the oath, swearing before Moranthis and the celestial hosts to remain true from that day forth. She, in turn, offered to become Rhysanus’s personal Healer only to discover that he and his queen already had Joram Arirahd as the Royal healer. She, still somewhat naive in the ways of the world, took it upon herself to vet this Healer and discovered he was once a Paladin to Larini, one of the Elven war gods, and broke his vows to her to become a Paladin to the Elven God of healing Shai’tann. In her mind, this was a betrayal of profound depths and made Joram unfitting to be a Healer to anyone, let alone the Valishar of all the elves.

Her subsequent encounters with Joram did little to change her opinion as the clash of their beliefs only served to increase the tension between them. She does not understand him nor accept Joram as anything but unworthy and so often finds an excuse to be in the capital to double-check on the Valishar’s health.

All in all, even through the intricate tapestry of a sheltered upbringing, political intrigue divine intervention and narrow perceptions, Aglaranna has transformed from a rebel to one of Rhysanus' truest vassals. Her loyalties, now unshakable, stand as a testament to the unpredictable twists and turns that can shape a life, as well as the intricate dance between mortal decisions and the divine will.
