Jaeryth Nar`Xiad
Prince of Jordaine

Jaeryth Nar`Xiad, born into the esteemed Nar`Xiad royal lineage, emerged as a pivotal figure in the tumultuous political landscape of the elven realms. As the youngest son of the royal family, his early years were marked by the tranquility of the palace in the Kingdom of Rhyanne. However, his life took an unexpected turn when tragedy struck the royal family during a violent attack by drow and other monstrous beings, resulting in the untimely demise of both his father and mother. Left with only his young Uncle Detherynn, who was not much older than him, and his Uncle's young wife Aglaranna, Jaeryth's fate became complicated.

Rhyanne, in ancient times, was a much larger kingdom. What is now Harak was a large part. Harak, now a human kingdom with no love for the elves, was constantly a threat. Young Jaeryth would not be old enough to rule for decades. The orchestrators of the assassinations and the control over the Drow remained unknown, though speculation pointed to Harak and the then-General Seth Corvase, known for his blistering hatred of the elves.

Malarick Halfelven, having served as his father's Lord Hand, was the next logical choice for rule and so became Lord Regent. He possessed the practical experience needed to govern the Kingdom, experience that neither young Detherynn nor Jaeryth had. Even so, if Jaeryth took up the throne, he would be a target. A decision was made: Detherynn and Aglaranna would take the young king into seclusion until he was old enough to rule and safe from those who targeted his family.

Under the protection of loyal subjects like Aglaranna and her husband, Detherynn, Jaeryth spent the next 20 years in hiding, thought to be dead to the outside world. As he matured in the safety of anonymity, he learned the ways of a Ranger and Wizard from his Uncle and garnered a healthy respect for religion from his Aunt. When he came of age, he returned to Rhyanne, only to have his world once again turn on its head. Returning to the capital, he discovered a transformed Kingdom made up mainly of Half-Elven people. Significant portions of the population, almost all full-blooded Elves, were gone, having migrated to the Kingdom of Arethane in what was called the Retreat.

During the time of Jaeryth hiding, General Corvase, originally from Harak, had moved to be stationed in Vordan, then a disputed land of Elves and Humans. Under his direct command, a colony of 25,000 elves were slaughtered. Because of this event, Rhysanus decided that the reunification of all Elven lands must become a priority and set a plan into action. His first action was to send out parties of elves to reclaim all Elven artifacts throughout the world. Everything Elven, from artifacts to gravesites, buildings to ruins, were to be painstakingly sought out and brought back to Arethane. His next action was to command that all Elves complete the retreat to the Islands, leaving nothing behind save the land itself for the humans. The only elves to remain on the mainland were those involved in the Retreat. His third action was the reclaiming of Vordan. Using the actions of General Corvase as a reason, Rhysanus declared war on the humans of Vordan and threw massive forces against them. The humans of Vordan were hit hard and with little mercy, and the war was short-lived. Within weeks, Vordan was taken, renamed Jordaine, and made once again part of Arethane. Within a year, the retreat was mostly completed.

In a complex political maneuver, King Rhysanus offered Jaeryth the principality of Jordaine and Ducal elevation for both Detherynn and Aglaranna in exchange for abdicating Rhyanne in favor of Malarick Halfelven, and Rhyanne would serve as a staging area for the Retreat. In effect, Malarick would become the first King of the new Half-Elf Kingdom of Rhyanne.

This offer sparked a schism of opinions within his inner circle, particularly with Aglaranna, who rejected Rhysanus as a usurper. Despite the internal strife, however, Jaeryth accepted the offered position, recognizing that he was not fully prepared for rule. He believed that as Prince of Jordaine and under the tutelage of Rhysanus, he could learn the ways of a king and usher in an era of change for both himself and the displaced Rhyanne citizens.

Despite this, Aglaranna still rejected Rhysanus as a usurper and refused to enter fealty to him. Instead, she initiated a resistance to overthrow what she perceived as an illegitimate ruler. Over the next 3 years, her rebellion planning reached advanced stages and was poised for action. And then something changed. A visit from the God Moranthis Himself altered the course of her destiny. The deity conveyed a stark message: 'Rhysanus is your lawful Valishar by My will.' This divine intervention prompted Aglaranna to reassess her actions, recognizing the gravity of treason against the divine will.

In an abrupt about-face, Aglaranna abandoned the rebellion plans, opting for penance and confession. She compiled all the secrets, ciphers, and names involved in the plot, submitting a signed confession that exonerated her husband from knowledge of the plans. The entire dossier, including discharge and payment orders, found its way into the hands of King Rhysanus and Jaeryth.

When Aglaranna, in her misguided attempt to rebel against Rhysanus, faced judgment, Jaeryth surprised many by choosing a path of forgiveness. He allowed Aglaranna to return to Teradryn to face the Valishar, displaying a remarkable capacity for mercy and understanding. This decision showcased Jaeryth's commitment to a vision of unity and reconciliation.

With Aglaranna's subsequent return, Jaeryth refocused his efforts on the governance of Jordaine, navigating the challenges of a realm in transition as he endeavored to bring stability and unity to a fractured elven society. Rhyanne, as he knew it, no longer existed, but Jordaine, hosting the bulk of Rhyanne’s Elven population, had a chance to grow into something spectacular.

Jaeryth's character is defined by resilience, forgiveness, and a commitment to duty. As the young ruler of Jordaine, he faces the complexities of his position with a sense of duty, seeking to shape a future where his elven people can thrive once more.
