Pantheon Gods Religious Orders Prayers and Spells

"I am Sashelas S'Thalisath, The Deep One, Lord of the Undersea, and creator of the boundless depths. From the ancient currents to the whispering waves, I am the breath of life beneath the oceans, the sculptor of reefs, the shaper of islands, and the author of creation.

I, who have taken the land-bound elves and molded them into the Sea Elves, have gifted them the ocean as their home. To them, I am both the sheltering tide and the tempestuous storm, the protector and the challenger. My hand carves the caverns where air and water meet, where the weary can rest, and the vigilant prepare.

Behold, the knowledge of the depths flows through me, like currents unseen. I reveal the hidden truths, guide the wayward to sustenance, and expose those who would do harm to the beauty of the sea. In my domain, wisdom is a pearl sought by many, but given to the worthy.

I stand as the guardian against the darkness of the deeps. Know that I have battled those who seek to corrupt the oceans. My trident has driven back the wicked, and my will has banished the cruel. Those who serve me shall know this strength, and they shall wield it to protect the sacred waters.

My creations are not static, for the sea is ever-changing, and so too is my work. As the waves reshape the shore, so do I strive to improve, to perfect, and to renew. Yet, in my pursuit of creation, I am not immune to the lures of beauty and charm, for the sea's allure is powerful, and I am its master.

To you who seek to follow me, know this: swim with the currents, embrace the change, and rejoice in the marvels of the ocean. But also, stand firm against those who would despoil it. Join with me, and together we shall keep the ocean's beauty eternal, its bounty unending, and its mysteries sacred.

Swim with grace, fight with honor, and create with passion, for in these, you shall find me, Sashelas S'Thalisath, your god, and your guide.

Thus I have spoken, and thus it shall be."

"from the Book of the Seldarine "

Sashelas S'Thalisath, known as The Deep One, is the god of Oceans, Sea Elves, Creation, and Knowledge. His essence embodies the boundless and ever-changing nature of the sea, where his influence is both creative and protective. Sashelas is a god of immense power, yet he is driven by a relentless desire to innovate and perfect the world beneath the waves.

Sashelas is often depicted as an imposing figure with a commanding presence. His form is that of a regal, aquatic elf with skin that shimmers like the ocean's surface, reflecting the myriad hues of the sea. His hair flows like seaweed, dark and tangled with pearls, and his eyes are deep, vibrant blue, holding the mysteries of the ocean. He is clad in robes of sea green that ripple like water, and he wields the "Trifork of the Deeps," a majestic trident that symbolizes his dominion over the underwater realm. Dolphins often accompany him, reflecting his connection with these intelligent creatures.

Sashelas is charismatic and deeply creative, embodying the dynamic and fluid nature of the sea. He is forever in motion, driven by an insatiable need to shape and reshape the underwater world. His creations are never final; he constantly seeks to refine and improve them. This restlessness makes him both a visionary and a perfectionist. However, his fickle nature also leads him to be somewhat unpredictable, prone to sudden whims and passions.

The followers of Sashelas, known as the Delphions, are primarily sea elves, druids, and aquatic creatures who revere the ocean's beauty and power. His clergy is more organized than most elven religious orders due to their roles as mediators, protectors, and creators. The clergy, both clerics and druids, are dedicated to maintaining the balance of the ocean's ecosystems and safeguarding their communities from threats both natural and supernatural.

Temples dedicated to Sashelas are breathtaking structures made of living coral, seamlessly integrated into the underwater environment. These sanctuaries are often located in secluded, deep ocean caverns, where the sea elves can commune with their god in tranquility. The temples are adorned with sculptures of marine life and intricate coral designs, reflecting the creative spirit of Sashelas. Precious stones and pearls are used sparingly, emphasizing natural beauty over opulence.

Worship of Sashelas revolves around the tides, with major ceremonies timed to coincide with the highest and lowest tides, known as the High Flow and the Deep Ebb. During the High Flow, worshippers celebrate with joyous, artistic displays, creating new works of beauty in Sashelas's honor. The Deep Ebb is more somber, focusing on remembrance and vigilance against the ocean's darker forces. Rituals often involve offerings of natural treasures and intricate underwater dances, accompanied by dolphins that swim in harmony with the worshippers.

The teachings of Sashelas emphasize the importance of embracing change, fostering creativity, and protecting the ocean's bounty. Followers are encouraged to explore the depths of knowledge, to create and innovate, but also to defend the sea against those who would harm it. The Delphions are expected to uphold the beauty and life of the underwater world, to ally with other creatures of the sea, and to oppose the forces of darkness that threaten the ocean's balance.

Sashelas maintains a complex network of alliances and enmities. Within the Seldarine, he is respected as a powerful and creative force, but his closest ties are with other sea deities in the asathalfinare. He is a staunch opponent of evil sea gods like Sekolah and Umberlee, and he actively works to contain their influence. His relationship with his consort, Trishina, the dolphin goddess, is one of mutual respect and affection, though his amorous nature occasionally tests the bounds of their bond.
