Character Development Points

Character Development Points (CDP) are used to represent the increase in experience, understanding and skill available to a character over a period of time. They can be used to specialise a character in an area, or areas, of interest.

Character Development Points are generated after the initial stats are rolled. Three stats in particular are needed to generate the base points: IQ, ME, EDU

Use the following formula to calculate the character's CDP Base

Base CDP = ((IQ + ME + EDU) X 5)/3

Then the player selects an occupation and selects skills based on Education Level. Once that is completed the CDP can be used to finish up the character development. All characters begin life as Normal people. It is only through the expenditure of CDP that a character can become more.

CDP can be used to turn an average Mundane Occupation into a supernatural or enhanced occupation. for example: Dave selects Librarian as his occupation but wants to be something more in tuned to the supernatural world. He would spend CDP to do so and could become a wizard. How does this work?

First as stated a character must have both an education and an occupation and have recorded the specific skill sets from each. Once these skills are recorded the player would then consult with the Game Master and determine if there is a logical connection between the Skills selected and a possible Supernatural or Enhanced character class. If there is the character would spend CDP based on the parameters of the class. Enhanced Character Classes cost 30 CDP while Supernatural Character Classes cost 50. If there is no logical connection the CDP cost to select a SCC is 75 points and an ECC is 55. For example, Character statistics can be raised or EDU level can be raised, Credit rating can be raised, or the Character can buy specific Edges to add flavor to the character.

Both S.C.C. and E.C.C. can be found in the Special Character Class Section

What is an Edge? Edges are Merits or Advantages that enhance the character.

Stats are raised at a cost of 5 CDP for an increase of 1. Please note that this does not effect the CDP base as CDP is based of the Initial Stats rolled by the character.

EDU Level can be raised at a cost of 10 CDP for an increase of 1 level and again this does not effect the CDP base.

New Skills can be bought at a cost of 5 CDP per Skill.

Credit Rating is increased at a rate of 1 CDP for 1 credit score.

Edges can cost 1-5 CDP depending on the conditions set by the edge.

Note: Base CDP must be expended no later then 2nd level.

Gaining CDP

CDP can be aquired in one of 3 ways.

  1. A character recieves 10 CDP per Level starting at 2nd level.
  2. The Gamemaster may assign CDP based on actions in game or instead of experiance points.
  3. Characters may take Drawbacks

What are Drawbacks? Drawbacks are Flaws or Disadvantages that hinder the character in some way and thus give CDP to the character instead of costing CDP. As a rule of thumb a character should have no more then 10 points of Drawbacks as they can quickly make a character unplayable.

A list of Character Edges and Drawbacks can be found in the Edge and Drawback section.
