The Arethane navy is acknowledged as the finest in the Known World. Renowned throughout the world as the best of mariners, the elven-crewed ships outsail anything else on the waves. Their warships sail rings around larger and slower opponents while merchantmen are able to outrun any buccaneer
Elven ships have awesome capabilities at sea and fall within at least one (but not restricted to) the following basic subtypes.
- Elhandren - Sails of Breath: Ships of this subtype are noted for being fast, agile and strong. Even those built using common construction methods in an elven shipyard are of a quality rarely matched by any other race. Elven ships are also noted for requiring far less crew due to their superior rigging and handling.
- Ciryagon - Hull of Stone: Elves often magically reinforce the wood of their vessels during construction, resulting in extremely tough hulls. Basic rituals of enhancement are preformed on virtually all elven craft. Other methods for ships of this subtype are hulls grown of crystal and magically enhanced so as to be nearly indestructable.Elven Druids, warlocks and priests are called upon to bring the forces of nature to bear upon the hulls of these ships, either wood or crystal, and give them strength and duribility of incredible amounts.
- Telcangren - Stem of Iron: A very few elven craft, notably ramships, have their prows both enclosed and sheathed in metal to prevent susceptibility to fire and to further strengthen the hull. A Mithral prow helps prevents a ship from catching fire and also helps portect the crew from missle attacks launched from other ships. Typically ships with the metal prows are the only elven ships that can use a ram attack.
- Chieldran - Waves of Magic: Some extremely rare vessels make use of Magical Propulsion in order to move through water, instead of utillising sails or oars. This can take many forms, though the use of bound elementals of air or water is most common.
The ships of the Arethane Navy fall within three classifications - Harmanil (Merchant Traders)
- Dagordain (Warships)
- Gilrandir (Explorers)
Each Classification has several different types of craft and hull design.

These small three hulled vessels serve as a fast attack craft. As many as 3
of these catamaran can be carried on one of the larger Elven Warships. Their speed allows them to harass enemy
vessels, and they are suprisingly maneuverable. The main drawback is that they are relatively
light and fragile, as compared to other elven ship types.

Swanship
These ships are broad and beautiful, with white bowspirts carved or shaped like swans.
These vessels have large striped sails emblazoned with the symbols of the various noble houses
and those of the Kingdom. Various elven shields line the gunwales. The rudders, masts, oars,
and spars are carved or formed and brightly decorated. Most Swanships are also protected by elven
totem magics. A swanship typically carries 20 marines, three heavy ballistae or catapults, and a
fire Projector. The fleet has 70 of these ships
