The meeting was over and Epic walked over to the sign up sheets looking at who had signed up for the job that he himself had requested. This job he did not post as the Guild Master, nor did he do it as a personal favor, he did it as the Constable and protector of Medonia. This job was important and was one where the lives of the members may be risked for simple information, but as far as Epic was concerned it was worth the aide it would bring the city. The members who had signed up were perfect, they were all pretty much unknown in the city and would be looked upon as regular citizens. The only one he worried about a little was Quix, though he doubted that anyone would recognize him as the thane of Riparia.

The mission was pretty simple, find and associate yourself with the group known as the Cadre and report with as much information as you can. The only fear Epic had with this job was that there could be a chance that one or more of the members of the guild were already a part of the Cadre, it was his hope that this was not the case. From what he could tell of the member though they all seemed to be pretty set on just making some money and having a little adventure. Even if one of them were in the Cadre, it might be more worth just telling Epic and taking the crowns over loyalty to the Cadre. Epic had requested that the three members stay after the meeting to discuss something important. Once they were the only ones left in the hall Epic addressed the situation.

”Men, the job that I have for you is of extreme importance. There is a malicious group plaguing the city of Medonia, they are known as the Cadre. You may have heard of them.”

Arms folded across his chest Epic met the eyes of Quix, Vyoma and Grunt one by one to see that he had their attention to the seriousness of the matter.

”I want you to do whatever is in your power to infiltrate this organization and gather information. The usefulness of the information you report to me will determine the amount of crowns you earn, which can be a great deal as you can see. There is no price to large to put on the safety of this city, I am counting on you. You will receive no supplies, this is something that I am letting you go about however you wish. I am afraid that I have no information for you about the Cadre, that is why I have hired you.”

Moving his cloak back and placing his hands on his hips Epic arched an eyebrow.

”Are there any questions, that is, if you still want to take the job?”

Grunt G'daraka
Grunt listened to Epic's explanation of the mission. Taking down a malicious crime group known as the Cadre seemed rather important. The fact that Epic asked himself and Vyoma to be part of this mission showed that he was getting very desperate and that the mission was far more dangerous than he said.

When Grunt was a beggar he lived in the worst parts of the city and ran into crime groups on many occasions. Most of the time they overlooked him due to his smell and complete lack of crowns, however Grunt did know when to move away from them at a very quick pace.

"Guild Master, I am ready for this mission. Tell me where is best to find the members of this group and I will dig up what information you need."

Grunt looked over at Vyoma and Quix. He hoped they would be a part of this mission. This was definitely the kind of mission where one would easily fail. However, he would understand if they backed out.

Vyoma
It was right after the meeting that Epic had asked Vyoma and the other two to stay back and had talked of the mission. Initially, Vyoma had thought from the posting that all he would be required to do was some crowd-control during the festival. But what Epic put forth was something about the group called Cadre.

This was definitely overwhelming for him. But something in him made him resolve that he would take the job before even G'daraka hastily took it up.

Then there was something that Epic said caught his ear. "You will receive no supplies, this is something that I am letting you go about however you wish. " Vyoma ran his fingers over the dagger that he had on his hip and wished he had something better. But he then stood up and said, "I take up the job, Guild Master. I have no other questions other than what my friend here has said. Vyoma looked at G'daraka. Any small piece of hint would be required if they were to get to know more of the group.

Vyoma then spoke, more to G'daraka than to others, "We would start on this not today, because it has become so late that one could say it is very early. And about my shack...", he gave his instructions on how to reach his house in Frailegrove district.

Then it hit like something that seemed to come from nowhere. During his part-time job at the Dagger Gaude Tattoo Parlour he had heard something, that then, he had ignored as some thing of insignificance. As everyone knew, the Tattoo Parlour was in a shady part of the city. During one of his walks out of the Parlour after the days work he had actually heard some dirty and shabby looking brutes talk about it. Vyoma then said to the other, no escpecially to the Guild Master, "One of these earlier brightenings, Master, I have heard few unworthy entities talk about it, as I had been walking back home from my job at the Tattoo Parlour. The Cadre is run by some person called Dom Giovanni. I am afraid, I did not learn more then, for I was much engrossed in my training."

Quix
Quix listened as the GuildMaster said what was needed to be said. The Cadre.... Quix said to himself.

"I will take this job." Quix said to Epic as he looked around at the others.

Quix listened to Vyoma. "Dom Giovanni, do you know anything about him other then he is the leader of the Cadre?"

Quix turend to Epic. "Are ther any shops around here that I could perhaps get a cloak? Being Thane of Riparia and all..might not be the best thing revaled to the Cadre or anyone else right now."

Vyoma
"I am afraid I do not know much more than that. I did not know well that this group, Cadre, was a wrong one and needed some attention."

Vyoma then took a moment before proceeding any further. Before Epic could answer, careful not to be rude, "I don't think the Guild Master knows much of it. If he knew he would have told us. Let us make a plan as to how we can get the info. Going around and asking in the taverns would be a great idea, but we need to be careful as it would draw some attention."

He waited for a while so his guild mates could take the matter within, then he resumed, "We'll start tomorrow. Yes, we would go and ask in taverns, but not without some precautions. I and G'daraka would first get into a earlier agreed upon tavern and hang in there. We would not ask about the Cadre nor of this Giovanni. That, Thane Quix would do. He would walk in to the tavern a bit later and then try to get the information. He may even try to ask someone. Yes he would attract attention, but then they would not know that he had two companions in the same room. They might even think that they can easily contain him and become careless and disclose some information. But when any danger would arise, there would be three of us to oppose rather than one."

Vyoma sat quietly for some more time. He realized he had talked a lot and hoped it would not be considered as offence. He looked around and then, "Well?"

Epicurus D. Vampyler
Epic let out a sigh of frustration while running his fingers through his hair. This was defiantly a hard job that he was putting up for his men and he had wished that he had more answers for them. Looking over at Grunt Epic responded to the question.

”Well Grunt, that’s the thing, if I knew where to best find them then I wouldn’t need to hire you lads. This is a mission that I will also be partaking in, but on my own. We don’t know who is or could be a member of the Cadre and I feel that spreading ourselves would be the best way. We don’t want to large of a group so I say that the three of you work together and I shall run off on my own. I know a few of the low lives around here and I can bend a few rules as the constable to get information out of them.”

Once Epic finished Vyoma took over the conversation and added some useful information, the other members present were going to need to know that name. Epic had already heard it from a source but it had slipped his mind. As for when they would start the investigation, the next day would be fine. This Cadre was not so much a group of thieves as people who seemed to be taking advantage of the cities weakness at the moment.

”That is excellent information Vyoma, thank you. Also, you three may call me Epic during this mission and others; only during guild meetings and such do I ask that you call me Guild Master.”

Epic tightened his cloak as he gave everyone else a chance to speak showing that he was getting ready to leave.

”Well, it looks to me like you are already developing a plan amongst yourselves. I will leave you to that for now, I have trust in the three of you and I do hope that you come out with something useful, both for the cities and for yourselves. It should prove to be an interesting experience. I have had quite the long day and must call it a night, but please, continue to talk here as long as you wish, just lock the door after you leave. The key is located under a medium sized rock just around the corner of the building.”

With that Epic gave his guild members a bow and made his leave.
