My '74 Rupp Centaur In The Making Page 4

Torsion Bar

This picture shows The torsion bar from a '74 Super beetle that I have gotten. What needs to be done here is this: The welds that hold the remainder of the floor boards on need to be cut off with a torch and then the welds themselves ground down and sanded smooth. The rest of it needs to be wire brushed to remove the surface rust. Also the brake housing covers and all of that assembly need to be removed and sand blasted to remove the corrosion. What is left of the axles also needs to be removed. I got the torsion bar on 13 april 99.

Bare Bones Rupp Frame

This picture shows the Rupp Frame in its birthday suit. The battery box brackets and all other brackets that would have no use and only be in the way have been torched off and welds ground smooth. This is of course before I stretched the frame 6 inches in length. The next step is for the Rupp frame to be cut and the torsion bar added. The Torsion bar and frame have been taken to Tim Nine to be added as i have no idea how to weld. I will have it back in 3 mos as I am going Overseas for three months and will be back sometime in December of 2001. After I get the frame back it will be powder coated to protect it.
