Mothra

    The first Mothra was already in butterfly form when discovered and had laid an egg on infant island.  This Mothra died trying to protect her egg from Godzilla.

    After the first Mothra's death the egg hatched and released 2 caterpillars.  These Mothras managed two encase Godzilla in a web and tumbled him down into the sea.  However later in a following movie they claim that one of the Mothra caterpillars had died and that only one survived.

    In 1993 Mothra was brought back to defeat Battra but instead Mothra and Battra allied together to defeat Godzilla.  Mothra had started as an egg, then a larvae, and then formed a cacoon to turn into the Butterfly form during this film.
 
 

    In addition Mothra had her own films in Japan that did quite well.  They were title Mothra and Mothra 2.
