Christine Hough:
Doug Ladret:
Doug fractured his skull Nov.17/86. On November 17, 1986, Doug hit a rut during a lift in a practice session. He saved Christine, but fractured his skull "in a couple of places". It was a near life-threatening injury, but a week later Doug was out on the ice (with a helmet on) again. They were off the ice for 5 weeks then they made the world team for their first time where they placed 8th.
NOTE:Unfortunately, Christine has retired from skating for a variety of reasons. Now Tuffy is living the married life in Boston. Doug was Performance Director for Stars & STN last year and will return again this year. He will also be moving down to Scottsdale,AZ to start coaching at the new arena that the Phoenix Coyotes NHL hockey team built.
Doug's coaching is split between the Mariposa school in Barrie and the Granite Club in Toronto. He is also developing a new sideline as a choreographer for both pairs and singles skaters. One program that I saw which was choreographed by Doug was Michelle Menzies and Jean-Michel Bombardier's first program in Skate the Nation which was: Everybody Hurts by REM.
