This band formed from the ashes of the Columbia, SC hardcore act, Misled. It originally started out with the intentions of being a hardcore/old skool punk act but those ideas never materialized in their first few practices so their original guitar player quit and left the band in a very strange situation. Billy F., who played guitar in Misled was supposed to handle the singing in this band but as fate would have it he would have to pick up his guitar again and try and reign in some creativity, the same creativity he felt he lacked in the last days of Misled. Now with the help of an amazingly powerful drummer known as Oak and the experience factor of Billy S. and Billy F. having been in a band together for so long there seemed to be a new tightness in the band and a new direction began to take shape. With Billy F.'s natural songwriting tendencies leaning more to the melodic approach of bands like Samiam and Hot Water Music and Billy S.'s knack for keeping their hardcore roots intact, along with adding in his own touches that are somewhat reminiscent of the slow but heavy emo sound, Oak pounds out the rhythm to which this festival of sound and emotion plays on. With the sounds that have come out there seems to be a melding together of the sounds and ideas of bands like Hot Water Music, Jawbreaker (due to the "Unfun"-ish vox), Get Up Kids, Mineral, Chamberlain, and maybe a bit of Sunny Day Real Estate in addition to a core built from stripped down punk which tries to bridge a gap between the emotive power of some styles and the fun and silliness of other styles. This band takes on things that are more of an emotional subject than Misled because the songs tend to be about the things that matter in life; friends, family, the ones we love, and the things that make us who we are. This band doesn't look to pull any punches and looks to breach the gulf that lies between fans and bands by connecting on an emotional level with the audience. This is because they recognize that the people, as well as themselves, have gone through a lot in their lives and those things bring joy and pain just as evenly. Though this all sounds somber you can't forget that the only thing they REALLY want you to do is HAVE FUN. After all, isn't that what being young is supposed to be about?
