A NEW BEGINNING

As twilight envelopes the land
I lie awake thinking
As the wind sings softly 
I feel my heart sinking

The fire turns to embers
I walk to the ledge
As fog rolls into the canyon
I look over the edge

I dream of jumping 
Not to fall, but to soar
I don't mind coming down
It's the awakening I abhor

I've made up my mind
I'll follow my dream
To soar through the clouds
And follow moonbeams

I've longed for a time
When the night was just right
To spread open my wings 
To jump and take flight

I close my eyes
And open my mind
I take a deep breath
And leave it all far behind
