Banting's best traveled the long winding road to Thunder Bay in North Ontario for the Ontario High School Wrestling Championships ( OFSAA).
For the first time in 27 years a Banting wrestler won the gold medal. MATT COFFEY, our GBSSA Heavy Weight Champion came out victorious. He beat all odds and even had to re-fight his final gold medal match due to protests made against the first win.
Cynthia Stacey, and , Jocelyn Dresser, both fought hard and after losing only one match, destroyed the rest of their opponents for the OFSAA Bronze Medal.
We must remember Emily McCague, who conquered an OFSAA 5th, and was awarded the sportsmanship award for excellence and attitude.
Special Mentions go to the rest of our OFSAA team for a fine effort, superior attitude excellent team support and not getting drunk (inside joke).
Last but never least. Our girls team Placed 5th over all at OFSAA.
