"Not quite. Where's Charis?" Flynn didn't look up from the computer screen.
"She's eating. Whatcha doing?" She sat down beside him.
"Working on an American military code."
"Wow. I guess that's the kind of life you get from impotence." She mused looking off to the distance.
"Excuse me?" He looked up from the computer screen.
"Never mind." She patted him on the head before walking out of the room.
Flynn muttered something about murder and Robyn, and then went back to work.
"Charis? What are you eating?"
"Fruit salad. Nothing you'd be interested in." Charis grinned as Robyn crossed the kitchen to the fridge.
"Very funny. I will have you know, I am a very healthy person." She poked around in the fridge. "Where's that chocolate that I stashed in here before we left?"
"Maybe Flynn got at it." Charis grinned again.
"He better not have."
"You know how much he likes chocolate..."
"Shut up." Robyn closed the fridge and sat down with Charis.
"Hey." A strange boy walked in and went for the fridge. Charis and Robyn looked at each other.
"Who exactly are you?"
"Fox Ikari. And you?"
"Flynn!! Get in here!!" Robyn screamed. Fox and Charis jumped visibly.
"What?! What is it?!" He came running in.
"There is an American in the kitchen!!" Robyn ground her teeth around the sentence.
"Good god Robyn, that's what you were screaming about?"
"Yes. American, kitchen, do you see a problem!?"
"Calm down Robyn. I'm sure there's a rational explaination for this." Charis glared at Flynn. "Isn't there?"
"You didn't tell them about me?" Fox also glared at Flynn.
"I didn't get a chance to." Flynn sighed.
"Here's one. A chance." Charis said dryly.
"Fox, I would like you to meet Robyn Niemes, and Charis Milna. This is Fox Ikari, you two."
"We know what his bloody name is! We want to know what he's doing here!" Robyn was working herself into one of her extremely excited states.
"He is one of the survivors from New York. 17 years old, He has been living on his own in Canada for the past two years. I have a contact living there, and he sent Fox to us. He will be trained, and then sent back to America as a spy for us."
"Oh, and you're just sure he's loyal, right?" Charis arched her brow.
"Don't start, Charis. Robyn, you'll be training him." He looked at Robyn as if daring her to say no.
"Why can't Charis?" Robyn rarely whined, but she felt she was under a lot of stress.
"Charis is too busy, as am I, so you're on your own." With that, Flynn turned on his heel and walked out.
Fox looked at the two girls that were now glaring at him.
"Ah, hell." He muttered. As he turned to go, he heard Robyn call to him.
"Oh, and Fox? Training begins at 5:30 tomorrow morning. Better go get your beauty sleep."
His shoulders slumped as he walked out.
Fox was dreaming. New York was happening all over again.
He had been playing his mom at a card game in the kitchen, his father was still at work.
His mom heard the planes first. She hustled him into the bomb shelter that his dad had made months before at the first signs of war.
They felt the vibrations of the bombs, and Fox could remember sitting on his mom's lap being scared, and his mom crying at the destruction that was no dou bt happening around them.
"Oh, Foxy? Wake up!" A very loud voice interrupted the nightmare.
"What!?" He sat bolt upright to see Robyn with a bullhorn standing just inside his door. She smiled wickedly.
"You overslept. It's 5:31." She checked her watch. "Wait no, it's 5:32. Get up and get your ass into the kitchen when you're ready." With that, she walked out. Fox groaned and slumped back in bed.
When he walked into the kitchen, the first thing he did was grab a cup of the coffee Flynn had left burning on the stove.
He crawled into his chair trying to keep his eyes open. Suddenly a pair of hands clapped under his nose. He jumped and sloshed the coffee onto the table.
"You have ten minutes to eat or do anything else, before we begin training, clear?" Robyn asked sharply. He nodded his head slightly.
"I can't hear you." Robyn cupped her ear for emphasis.
"Clear." A slight mumble came out of the slumped figure.
"Good." Robyn started blending the concoction of fruits she'd put in the blender.
Fox was practically hugging his coffee. He yawned, and sipped at the hot liquid.
"If you want anything to eat, you only have five minutes left." Robyn was now eating some sort of cereal.
"God, if he doesn't get discovered by the American government, exhaustion is gonna kill him." Charis said watching Fox limp across the computer lab to his room. He was almost asleep, and kept bumping into furniture.
"Robyn's really making him work." She turned to look at Flynn.
"Exactly why I made her his trainer." Flynn glanced up for a second before going back to work on fixing a damaged computer.
"Oh. Anyways, what's my next mission?"
"You're going to stick around here for the week, then I'll tell you what's happening."
"Kay. Have fun with the computer." Charis went over to Flynn and kissed him lightly on the cheek, before going to her room.
"Good-night, Charis." Flynn looked to the hallway that she'd disapeared down.
Fox stumbled into bed, and fell into a deep dreamless sleep.
Robyn was having a bit more trouble sleeping. She was thinking of the past. She sighed and fell into a fitfull sleep.
"Fox? Wake up!" At least this time she isn't using a bullhorn, Fox thought grimly to himself as he woke up.
"Get up, or else you won't have anytime for eating." Robyn stomped out of the room.
"Damn."
Within half an hour, they were beginning.
"Okay, now, today we are going to test your strength." Robyn said grinning wickedly.
Charis stodd at the window, and watched as an exhausted Fox ran by with Robyn on his back. She laughed.
"What are you laughing at?" Flynn walked to stand by Charis.
"Look." She pointed. He also laughed.
"You know..." Fox gasped for breath. "This is not very humane..."
"I think it is." Robyn was having a great time of it.
"I think you have... something against... me..." Fox was having trouble breathing, and talking to Robyn wasn't doing him any good.
"Not really." Robyn thought for a moment. "Well, yes, maybe I do."
"Oh, I... would... never have... guessed..." Fox collapsed onto the grass behind the warehouse. Robyn fell off and jumped to her feet. She grabbed the bottle of water out off her bag, and offered it to him.
"Hurry up, and drink." She said impatiently. He did as he was told.
