EDDIE CIBRIAN SPOTLIGHT

ET Stories

The phrase "tall, dark, and handsome" never had truer meaning than when used to describe sexy leading man EDDIE CIBRIAN. You can already check him out every weekday on "Sunset Beach," but now you can see him in one of the hottest scenes ever to hit the big screen in the film 'Living Out Loud,' in theaters now. 'Living,' which stars DANNY DeVITO and HOLLY HUNTER, marks Eddie's feature film debut.

If you think gorgeous stops at BRAD PITT or LEONARDO DiCAPRIO, you have yet to catch wind of Hollywood's latest addition to the ranks of beautiful leading men. Enter stunning young actor, Eddie Cibrian. With dark, chiseled features and dimples to-die-for, this 25-year old is, without a doubt, the hottest commodity in town to date. After a two-year stint on "The Young and the Restless" and "Baywatch Nights," Cibrian was cast by AARON SPELLING to star on "Sunset Beach," where he plays womanizer Cole Deschanel. In theaters, Cibrian ignites the silver screen in his first feature film, 'Living Out Loud.' Cibrian is so magnetic in this film - his sexy massage drives Hunter's character absolutely wild - that DeVito called to personally inform him that he is without a doubt "a bona fide superstar" and that he "steals the film, hands-down."

That's not the only film Cibrian will steal this fall. Later this month, he stars in the CBS movie-of-the-week, "The Hitman: Bound by Honor," where he portrays a lethal fighting machine who infiltrates the Mafia in order to avenge his family. His character operates under the guidance of former Army Ranger, Jake, played by CHUCK NORRIS, in this action-packed drama where Cibrian firmly establishes that his captivating good looks are substantiated with an exceptional acting ability. To add to his increasingly high profile, Details magazine has dubbed this half-Cuban, half-Spanish "All American" heartthrob "TV's Hottest Fall Guy." In addition to such recognition, Cibrian will be the first man to appear solo on the cover of Latina magazine.

At an early age, it was clear to everyone around Cibrian that he would succeed in whatever he wished to pursue. Persuaded by a neighbor to test his luck in front of the camera, Eddie's parents began taking him out on the audition circuit. To his surprise, his very first audition landed him a national Coca-Cola commercial. The stint got so much attention that it immediately led to a number of other national commercials in the following years.

Upon entering high school, Cibrian decided to put his acting career on hold and devote his extra curricular time to one of his other passions -- sports. "Seeing all my friends go off to practice after school, while I had to go on auditions, was a huge factor in my decision to stop acting for a while." And, with his seemingly natural ability to excel, Cibrian went on to compete successfully in a number of varsity sports, including baseball, football, soccer and volleyball. With characteristic finesse, he concluded his high school athletic career with a flourish, receiving several All-State honors.

An injury in his first football season at UCLA suddenly left this energetic individual with extra time on his hands, so far unheard-of in his academic career. "As long as I can remember, I have gone to school and either acted or played sports at the same time." This lack of physical activity coupled with his still-avid interest in acting are what turned his focus back to being in front of the camera. Without skipping a beat, he picked up right where he left off, immediately landing a national commercial for Day Runner.

From that point on, Cibrian's career only gained momentum. In a matter of months, he starred in MALCOLM-JAMAL WARNER's Emmy Award-winning television special "Kids Killing Kids." This led to several soap opera auditions, one of which was for the role of Nick Newman on "The Young and the Restless." Although CBS felt that Cibrian was too old to play the role of Nick, they were so impressed by his acting abilities that the show's producers decided to virtually create a character for him. Within the first three months of playing the scheming Matt Clark, Eddie received so much fan mail that CBS signed him to a three-year contract. When asked about playing his first TV character, a devious, scheming rapist and manipulator, Eddie states, "At first I was worried about going out in public. I thought that everyone would associate me with my character and hate me. It turned out to be just the opposite. Everyone was interested in talking to me to be sure that I really wasn't such a bad guy."

After two years of playing daytime's most popular villain, Cibrian had female viewers around the world switching from daytime to nighttime television with his role on "Baywatch Nights." Producers were ready to throw in the towel after auditioning over three hundred actors to play opposite DAVID HASSELHOFF. As the audition process was winding down, they happened to see Cibrian's performance on "Y&R" and their search was over.

Despite his burgeoning film career, Cibrian still finds time to continue taking business classes at UCLA, where he is pursuing his degree in economics. He enjoys being with his family and his Jack Russell terrier, Wyatt. He spends his Saturdays with children from South Central Los Angeles projects volunteering at "Stitches," a group that provides kids with an alternative to gangs. He also devotes time to his favorite charities such as "Make A Wish Foundation" and "The American Paralysis Association." The rest of Cibrian's leisure time is generally spent outdoors, perfecting his golf game, playing football, tennis or basketball or cruising in his cherry-red 1960 classic Corvette.

Whether playing a devious villain, a sexy heartthrob, a nighttime hero or whatever else he takes on, it is clear that Cibrian's stunning looks and trademark dimples, combined with his raw acting talent, will shoot him straight into the realm of super-stardom and the hearts of viewers around the world. Move over, Leonardo!
