what would it take i wonder
to make you understand
that the facts of the case are these
and they are undisputed
the opening address is not enough
to prove beyond reasonable doubt
the conviction you will not make
or convince you what it's about
the closing lines i cannot say
nor is it my place to judge
all I can do is stand accused
amd hope fate does not budge
i wonder what it will take
to help you understand
that while you pretend to walk alone
