the poem I dare not write

there's a poem in your eyes i dare not write
the saga of a hero too early doomed
the cries of a loss as yet unknown
prayers to a distant, blind-eyed god
a song first sung in absent silence
I saw it there and thought i might
not have to read that poem i dare not write
