Smile

fake goblin masks made in fear
strapped skin-tight to cover
the Halloween behind the eyes
and the ghosts lost in the mind
clown smiles painted, not cracked,
under the big-top spotlight of life
the lights dim, the smile is wiped
and thrown away with the greasy tissue
grins hanging, a laughing mobile
turning and turning never still
never a real smile, a Mona Lisa
to keep the mask in place
hiding an ever crying face
