Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, Katie Holmes began acting in high school theater productions. While attending a national modeling and talent convention in New York City, she met a manager who encouraged her to go to Los Angeles for the television pilot season. Katie landed the role of Joey on the hit series "Dawson's Creek." The show, soon to be starting its 3rd season, is the highest rated show on the WB network.
In film, Katie appeared in the award-winning drama The Ice Storm, directed by Ang Lee, and Disturbing Behavior, co-starring James Marsden and Nick Stahl, directed by David Nutter. Katie also stared in GO, with Sarah Polley and Scott Wolf, directed by Doug Liman. Currently, she can be seen at theatres in Killing Mrs. Tingle, which was written and directed by Kevin Williamson, the man behind Scream and "Dawson's Creek." Katie has just finished working on the film Wonder Boys, with Michael Douglas and Robert Downey Jr., which will be out later this year.
