SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE/RULES FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

I. The Committee shall be composed of:

 a. The Education/Retention Coordinator (as the chair of the meeting), Internal Coordinator, Fund-raising Coordinator and three (3) General Assembly members.

I. Who qualifies for the M.E.Ch.A. Scholarship?

 a. Must be an active Mechista (is part of the General Assembly and part of a Committee).

 b. Must be transferring and/or graduating Mechista

 c. Must not have received a M.E.Ch.A. scholarship in the past.

II. Rules on awarding Scholarship amount.

 a. A person will be judged on a three (3) point system as:

  1. Being a little active

  2. Being mid active

  3. Being very active

 b. Committee must research how active a person is.

 c. Research must be done through sign in sheets of General Assembly, Committee meetings, and functions/events.

 d. Factors to be judged on include:

  1. Consistent activism throughout their membership of M.E.Ch.A. de Pasadena City College

  2. Financial Need
 
 

IV.     Dollar amount to be rewarded:

 1. Is at the discretion of the committee.

 2. One hundred dollars ($100) should be kept in the Scholarship account.

 3. In the event that no funds were added to the scholarship account throughout the semester, the Committee may liquidate the account.

V.      Committee shall meet:

 1. At any time in the last 30 days of the current semester.

 2. This is the time when the three (3) General Assembly members shall be elected by the General Assembly.

 3. Committee members may not be eligible for the Scholarship.

 4. In the event of a Coordinator who is on the Committee and eligible for a Scholarship, that person must decline from being on the Committee to another MESA member.  The replacement will be confirmed by the General Assembly.

VI.     Procedure to Receive Scholarship

 1. Eligible Pasadena City College Mechistas must submit an application via the Education/Retention Coordinator to the Scholarship Committee by the deadline determined by the Scholarship Committee.
