HISTORY

It all began in 1994 when Melanie answered an ad in the English paper, The Stage. Hundreds of girls auditioned and only five were chosen. The girls were given the name Touch. They later changed it to the Spice Girls when they spilt from their first management and signed with Simon Fuller. The Spice Girls burst onto the scene in 1996 and soon became the biggest pop group ever in the world.

It was in 1998 when Bryan Adams wrote the track, When You're Gone. Bryan wanted Melanie to do him the honor in recording the song as a duet with him, she accepted. Bryan and Melanie had great success with the song. They performed a string of live performances. Near the end of '98, the Spice Girls finished their sold out world tour.

Melanie re-entered the studio in late 2001 and re wrote and re recorded her unreleased track, Independence Day for the film Bend It Like Beckham. At this time, she was writing and recording her second album, Reason.

Reason was released in March 2003. She worked with some of the same team from Northern Star and with a few more highly profiled artists, Robert Howell (Dr. Robert and The Blow Monkeys) and David Arnold. Reason is a sophisticated, polished, and mellow album and is sure to bring a new fan base to Melanie.

Melanie has been in the music industry for nearly ten years and in the hearts of millions of fans since her first appearance with the Spice Girls in 1996.
