What`s Scream all about then? - The basic plot
Because I don`t want to spoil the movie for people who haven`t seen it yet I`ve tried to keep the Plot-Summary as basic as possible:
After the teenage Scary Movies Fan
Casey Becker
and her boyfriend Steve are brutally murdered in the small town of
Woodsboro
,all anyone can talk it about is the killer. Everyone seems to be a suspect,and when our heroine
Sidney Prescott
,who`s mother was murdered a few years ago and who since then has a feud with reporter
Gale Weathers
,receives mysterious phonecalls,the killings realy start and nobody is safe of the Ghostmask-wearing killer

OK,but what`s so special about Scream then?
Well,first of all
Scream
isn`t just another Slasher movie. In the year 1978
John Carpenter
set new standars for the Horror-Movie Genre with his brilliant movie
Halloween
, but since then the same basic plot has been filmed so many times that the standards aren`t up to date anymore,
Scream
updates these standards. In
Scream
we find out about the rules of Scary Movies,but at the same time
Scream
brakes these rules and sets up new ones.
Another point is that
Scream
applies to all kinds of people.The Horror Fans will love the insider jokes, but even if you`ve never seen a Scary movie before,
Scream
will apply to you as a very intense and intelligently made Murder-Mystery with a solution that is guaranteed to surprise you.
Also,Horror Legend
Wes Craven
,of
Nightmare on Elmstreet
fame,has done a great job in directing the movie,combining classical Horror Scenes with Scenes,that are sure to become classics.
All this,combined with the brilliant script of
Kevin Williamson
and the wonderfull music of
Marco Beltrami
makes
Scream
one of the best Horror-Films ever.

As for the voice disguiser, you probably know that in the movie they didn`t use an actual voice disguiser but instead used a special voice actor to do the telephone parts.
