Sarah was watching a documentary of a couple that had gotten married and discovered that the husband was dying of AIDS. The documentary touched Sarah deeply and she said that the words for this song just came out of her purely as if the wife was writing them herself.
Sarah's difficulty in dealing with others and not caring so much about what everyone thinks of her.
This song is about being in love with someone that doesn't know you love them. Sarah explained it by saying that it was like looking in the mirror and knowing just what to say to that special person when you are all alone, but when you finally do see them again, you can't get the words out and they just walk away, leaving you with the feelings.
This song is about a man that was stalking Sarah. He would write her fan mail that was very disturbing. He said that he loved her and that he wouldn't be denied by her. When Fumbling Towards Ecstasy came out, the man sued Sarah, saying that she had used his poetry and letters in this song. Sarah won the court case and the man later killed himself.
Sarah has stated that she got the idea for this song mainly from the movie Leaving Las Vegas. The movie, if you haven't seen it, was about a man that was an alcoholic and went to Las Vegas to kill himself, but falls in love with a hooker. Sarah explained that the song is about two people in love that fully accept each other and all their faults. They love the ugly things about each other.
From what I have heard, Angel is about heroin addicts in the music industry that kept dying of their addiction.
I don't know much about this song, but Sarah has said that she wrote it in a very depressing time in her life.
This song is about teenagers, from what Sarah has said. Elsewhere is about being a teen in your parent's home, trying to discover who they are while there is so much going on around them.
