Derek was an ordinary student, going through ordinary classes, belonging to an ordinary sorority. The only thing he did wrong was date Sidney . He was the perfect boyfriend, and one of the first suspects. Remember Billy Loomis? It's not easy filling his shoes. You become an automatic suspect. He was innocent, unfrotunatly Sidney found that out too late. Now another innocent person had been wrapped up in the horror that comes along with her.
JERRY O'CONNELL joins the cast of SCREAM 2 as Sidney Prescott's dreamboat boyfriend Derek. He savored the role -- "I have few kissing scenes with Neve! -- and the chance to work with Wes Craven. As a film major at New York University, O'Connell wrote papers on the director's work. O'Connell's previous film credits include a much-noticed role "Jerry Maguire" last year. He starred in "Joe's Apartment" and made his film debut as the boy who discovers the dead body in Rob Reiner's "Stand By Me." O'Connell currently stars in (and co-produces) the Sci-Fi Channel television series "Sliders."
