New Radicals

Maybe you've been brainwashed too

[MCA]

It's been a long time since I've listened to an album all the way through, from the first track to to last track, and loved it the first time through.  This New Radicals album is one of those rare offerings that gets you hooked right from the start.

The New Radicals are lead by and are essentially the product of Gregg Alexander, from Grosse Point, MI.  He has been around the music biz for a while even though he's only 27, but this album is his first real commercial success.

The first two tracks are sure to get you rocking.  I love listening to the funk beats of Mother We Can't Get Enough as I cruise the 405 late at night.  I keep grooving right into You Get What You Give, the radio-friendly hit thats on the verge of getting put on the overplayed list by MTV and Top-40 Radio.

One of the coolest tracks is the epic I Hope I Didn't Just Give Away the Ending, track 4 on the album.  This tale of the tribulations of a coke fiend vaugely glamorize the lifestyle.  But like most of the songs on the album, it is essential a love song.  Gregg's songwriting captures the emotions of the screwed up relationships that we've all been through.

This is one album that is worth adding to your collection.  It rocks on some tracks and gets deep on some, but it holds your attention all the way through.
