Can you survive the donut of death?
While checking out the SC Compendium, (Blizz's new SC page) I found this pic. Cool or what? check out the strat section :)The Antioch Chronicles Released!
This is an awesome single player campaign by Auspex Turmalis, that picks up the Protoss campaign where Blizz left off. It sounds extremely cool and has a well thought out storyline. The campaign features: eight full missions and an epilogue for a total of nine new maps, and six new heroes complete with full speech. The size is large (22mb) but don't let that put u off, it reflects how much time and effort has been put into this campaign. Download part one, Psionic Storm now and "Set your sights on the heart of Aiur..." BTW, The Antioch Chronicles site is well worth a look. The layout is one of the best I've ever seen, and i'm not just hyping the campaign here. Give it a look, check out the storyline, the heroes, hell check it all out, I dont think you'll be disappointed. :)Blizz explains StarBase
Khala emailed Blizz and this was their response. [news source - SC.Org]If I remember correctly, it was a scenario-specific building (like the Norad II, the Ion Cannon, etc.) that we ended up not using. We didn't include it as a neutral building because we never produced portrait, wireframe, or sounds for it.Starcraft Compendium Opens

Starcraft News for July 13th
Orcs and Humans on B.net OfficialBlizzard made the Official WarCraft II Platinum announcement today. Read it to get all the info. Availabe December 98 for Win95/NT and early Dec. for Macintosh.WarCraft II Platinum Comes to Bnet!!
Blizz is making a new WarCraft game, WarCraft II Platinum, that will be able to play over b.net and in ladder games as well. Read the Gamespot blurb below. Thanks to Lan for the tip :)Ever since battle.net debuted two years ago, fans across the world have begged for battle.net support for WarCraft II. Those fans have finally gotten their wish. Blizzard will announce later Monday morning WarCraft II Platinum, a new title in the WarCraft line that will replace WarCraft Battlechest. This is not WarCraft III, but it is an updated version of WarCraft II. Included in the game will be the original WarCraft II, the Dark Portal expansion set, and two new campaigns. Each new campaign will have new music and cinematics. GameSpot has learned that each campaign will have at least eight scenarios. These new campaigns will be advanced ones with scenarios to challenge even the most seasoned WarCraft II veterans. One thing Platinum won't have is updated graphics. Instead, the biggest focus of the game is battle.net support.Blizzard's Susan Wooley says, "The main reason we decided to release WarCraft II Platinum is because we wanted to offer WarCraft II over battle.net. It's not our intention to do a full-blown expansion set or a new version of the game. We basically wanted to create a Win95 version of the game that could be playable over the internet. But we wanted to give our customers more value than just internet play. We wanted to give them whole new campaigns. We're not only reviving the multiplayer, we're reviving the single player as well. But we are too busy working on other projects to redo the entire game. We wanted to move forward."
Owners of WarCraft II Platinum will be able to play WarCraft II games over battle.net, with full ladder and tournament support. The new WarCraft II will be a native Windows 95 application, a necessary move since battle.net won't work with the DOS version of WarCraft II. Blizzard is setting WarCraft II Platinum's price point at approximately US$35, but will offer owners of the original WarCraft II or Battlechest a rebate of up to $25. The exact pricing model is still being determined. WarCraft II Platinum is slated for a Christmas release date.

SC Infoceptor received a pic from Skeltor showing the Valkyrie has been redesigned. Maybe because it's no longer a bomber, maybe cuz Roper just said "do it", who knows :) I think I prefer the older version (upper left) as it looks more aerodynamic and "beefy" to me. Yes, no?Scums and Stories

Yesterday hidden units were revealed and it started a search on what were they used for, why were they taken out?? eh, yeah, well it was a slow news day :) hehehe Didn't hear about them? click here. Todayx2 explains all for us on the Hidden Starbase :)- In early SC development, Blizzard liked the idea of the carrier so much that they thought each race should have their own 'cargo weapon' type ship. The zerg one wasn't too cool though, it was an overlord type guy, that stored scourges. Since they thought scourges would be better alone, they scrapped that idea. Now onto the terran ship. It was called the 'Van'. It could be built at the Stargate once you had a starbase. Once a 'Van' was made, you could make 4 'Minivans' in it that would fly out the 'Van's trunk and attack the enemy. The minivans had 50hp and did 5 damage with their 'headlight lasers'. They also benefitted from all the normal ship upgrades. At the Starbase you could get 3 upgrades: oversized trunk (+4 'Minivans'), V6 engine(speed upgrade), and bright headlights (increase sight range). It's unit picture was a housewife, and they had Pat N.'s mom do the voices-"Buckle up, kids!", "Don't spill that!", "Quiet down back there!", "Don't make me pull over!", and "One more peep out of you and I will turn this car around!". Of course the beta testers loved it! I mean, who wouldn't love seeing 8 GMC's tear your enemy with pieces! But alas, one day someone pointed out the fact that it was a flying Van, so it got scrapped. Sad story, huh? Maybe we should start a petition to bring back the Starbase and the 'Van'... neway, I attached an Early Rendition of the 'Van' in action. Enjoy! :) Thanks, x2

SC.Org has their General Tactics Section online as well as the Protoss and Terran. Looks like they lost their news section tho. hehehe Someone over there is cussing. I'm sure it'll be back soon.Change is Good
This seems a bit anal retentive to me but as the forums are full of anal retentives, i'll post on it anyway... Things change during development. It's a fact. So the Valkyrie is no longer a bomber. Accept it ppl, DON'T whine about it. And I'm always amazed at the things ppl notice like in this post, or bitch about like in this one. No wonder Blizz is reluctant to release info. I'm on Jeffrey Vaugnn's side here. Read his reply post and cut some slack! I was just happy to look at the units and see some screens. Loosen up ppl !Reworked SCM Section
Infoceptor has redesigned it's scum section. Now u can uplaod your scums instantly, they've added a reviewing and rating system. Looks pretty cool. Check it out here.If u whine u get answers
Some guy posted "10 reasons why Blizz is going to hell" and while most of his complaints were whiny, he did have a couple valid points. Guess Scott M thought so too cuz he took time to answer them point by point. Course maybe Scott was just bored. :) This is the first I've heard of a new ladder template for disconnects. Wallpapers for each of the three species can be grabbed here. Also added a permanent link to my Downloads section.
